“Who are you?” he glared at tightened his hold around my neck. I struggled like a fish out of water.
I’m struggling to breath. What to do in this situation?
“He had turned to a beast!” he spat, sounding it like a curse and accusation. “Only a mate can trigger his wrath. He has strong emotions to you. I should have listened to my instincts when you smelled so strongly of him. I thought it was only because you sleep with him. I should have known!”
Then he let go of me so suddenly.
I catch myself but still ended up crouching on the floor. Coughing hard to regain my breath.
With my hand on my throat, I tried to dispel the dizziness I feel. Whatever is out there can’t possibly be Zirc. I never felt so much terror in my life. What is out there?
I glanced up. Blue guy is still muttering to himself. Going the way we came from is not a good idea so I decided going further into the caves might be better
Taking a huge breath, I tried to steady myself against the wall. Casting a wary look at Blue guy, I inched along further.
I know I’m pretty slow compared to them but getting out of danger is good.
I went around a corner and came to three cave openings. Which one to choose? They all looked the same. All looked dark.
I chose the one on my right because it was easier. I’m using the cave wall as a cane. I’m still out of breath and I need to hide.
I refused to cry. I can’t believe this guy will betray me, betray Zirc like that. I knew that he kind of admired Zirc. What will make him do this? What does he want?
I felt my cheeks are wet but refused to wipe them down with my free hand. I will survive this. I’ve come this far to just simply quit. Alone and miserable. This only happens in the movie.
I tried to smother my screams when I tripped. But I can’t escape the small squeak at the end.
Damn it, not now. I can see a light at the end of this tunnel. Good thing I’m not that claustrophobic. This reminds me of the dark alley I used to hide from the police. I had a bad ex-boyfriend who used me as an excuse for his drug deals. Good thing I also got to clean up my name after that fiasco. But there are no police in this world. No law and order in or outside of the towns we went to.
I can barely see now except for the end of the tunnel. The cold seeping through my clothes. I’m fighting hard not to shiver either from the cold or from fear or most likely both.
I tried to stand up and find that there are so many jagged rocks on my feet. My hands are full of dust.
Still I try to balance every now and then. Something to do to take off my fear. I took a deep breath. The air smelled wrong. I calmed myself even though I knew I probably touched something rotting in this place.
I took more steps forward, balancing with my arms. The cave wall no longer served its purpose. In fact, the cave wall here are full of sharp edges. I probably had more cuts on my arms and hands.
At last, a few more steps to the end of the cave. Strange, I knew for sure it was still a long way from where I was.
I heard before I saw a pool cave. The light from the moon above bouncing off its clear water, illuminating the space.
Slowly, I emerged from the tunnel and captivated, I approached the pool. I looked up and saw this bright light from above. It was still dark because I saw the moon. The place looks magical. If you’re not afraid of the dark secrets inside the other tunnels.
It was a good thing whoever crept up to me grabbed my mouth because I would have shouted from the heavens. I’m pretty sure he felt my body shivered from head to toe.
“Shh,” he murmured against my ear. He has a firm grip across my waist and my head as he dragged me nearer to the wall cave. Away from the light.
No, I screamed in my head. I tried to use my dead weight but it has no effect. Who has me?
“I’ll let you go but don’t scream. I’m here to save you,” he whispered silently. He straightened up and slowly released me.
Like a fool, instead of running away, I faced my attacker.
He has a stunning face.
He asked who I was and I decided to motion I can’t speak. He looked at me up and down and came to a conclusion. Dismissing me, he said, “Go eastwards to that tunnel,” pointing to another tunnel behind him. “You will find help if you go east.”
Though he smelled bad, even bad that I realized there are skulls all over the cave floor, his eyes looked steady. His indigo colored eyes. Something about them made me calm down. I don’t know yet if they have influencing powers or not, but it helped for me to take those few steps away from him. I also saw before I passed him, a look of pity on his face. As if he had an idea what happened to me.
