I nod. I’ll try to play this game with him.
He breathed a sigh of relief. Huh, who knows these people are almost the same like humans. Yet, I can see his blue striped tail swishing back and forth in the background. Need to be careful, he’s still agitated. Though I don’t see any weapons on him or nearby, he might be strong enough to break my neck.
“Did Zirc find you in in Crane?”
I pretended not to understand it.
“You are not from this planet?”
I nod.
“I see,” he said and looking down like thinking hard. “I see. Still, there was a report of unidentified aircrafts entering our space recently. Debris.”
He looked up and I can see that his eyes had turned too bright. Like two headlights.
“Did you see it? Did you see the relic?”
Relic? I kept hearing that word but I don’t know what it was. Though Zirc was able to describe it, I haven’t seen him looking at it when I’m not around.
“You haven’t seen it?”
I nod.
“Damn it,” he released me abruptly and stood up. I balanced against the forest floor. The sudden movement almost caused me to bang my head against the uneven floor.
I saw that my captor has become truly agitated. He is muttering to himself. Not a good sign. His body is taut as he paced the floor caves. His tail almost missed one of the glow worms, its black eyes following his movement.
They look cute but I tried to keep myself still. All the glow worms I can see are following the blue guy.
How is it that I knew I can’t trust him but I can trust Zirc? Am I brainwashed or did the relic came from the aliens I encountered and part of that debris, he found me. Yet, I wished like a princess that Zirc will rescue me. He had not reasons to do so. What will I do if he did rescue me?
Maybe not being a great in his ass?
I get crazy when I’m stressed. It doesn’t help that the blue guy is pacing, he is so agitated that his fur all stood up on end.
I should have known what it meant. Like a static cat, I was in fact enthralled when I saw his back fur, the one lining his spine, stood up from the base of his tail all the way to the back of his neck. But his tail’s fur is all standing up. They have short hairs on their tail so it’s not even that noticeable. But being close to him, I saw it.
I looked down at myself. I had goosebumps all over my body. A reaction from him? I touched my hair instinctively and they are down.
Then we both heard it.
We both looked at each other. My eyes are puzzled. But I saw his blue eyes.
They are large, his pupils swallowing the white.
Oh oh.
I felt the reverberation first inside the cave. The trembling of the cave floor as if a herd of monsters are marching towards us.
What the hell is going on?
The glow worms shrank, making it dim a little. They too seem afraid of what’s happening out there.
The roar was loud and long. Like an animal, a beast.
Next thing I knew, my back is towards the wall, my feet is above the ground. I can almost see the top of the blue guy’s head as he single handedly balanced me against my neck.
I scratched his arm. But I can see his fear is riding him because even me kicking his upper body has no effect. I struggled to scream. My gurgle of distress sounding loud in my ears.
