“Get up, Price. I’ve got to change these sheets and get you back to your cage.”

“Yes, sir.” Needing the support, he moved to stand against the wall as Kai ripped the bloodied sheets from the bed and threw them into the corner. He’d definitely imagined Kai stroking his hair and skin and . . .

“Let’s go.”

He obediently followed his trainer down to his quarters and was duly locked inside. He sank onto his blanket and buried his face in his hands. Whatever had happened, he needed to get hisgreeztogether. His ordeal wasn’t over yet. Palk was still here.

CHAPTER

FOUR

“I’ve already told you, Mexr. Those four and no others.” Palk slammed his hand down on the desk. “Now get out before I call my security team and have you removed from this program.”

Kai set his jaw. “I . . . apologize, General.”

“You do?” Palk gave a bark of laughter. “Well, that’s a first.”

Kai came around the side of the desk and fell to his knees in front of Palk. He stared down at the man’s well-polished boots, bent his head and kissed them.

Palk’s hand closed cruelly in his hair.

“I know what you’re doing, Mexr. You’re trying to distract me from having Price again.”

Kai said nothing, his gaze now level with Palk’s groin. Despite the pain, maybe because of the pain, he leaned in and licked the bulge of Palk’s cock.

Palk’s breathing hitched. “If I accept your offer, I’ll expect your complete obedience.”

“Yes, sir.”

Palk pushed him away, and for a second his heart stuttered.

“You’re not afraid of me, are you?” Palk’s cold gaze searched his face. Incredibly, he smiled. “You like this, don’t you? You’reeven looking forward to it. That’s why you fought so hard the first time, because you didn’t want me to know what a little pain slut you are.”

Kai licked his lips and returned his gaze to the floor.

“Come then.”

He meekly followed Palk into his bedroom and closed the door behind him. His cock was already hard. Whatever happened now, he could only hope he survived it.

Where was Kai Mexr?

Aled looked over his shoulder one last time as he and the other three trainees were marched into a different part of the training facility that was further underground with much tighter security. He knew better than to ask. Malke’s face was stony as he led them through to better quarters and separated them out. Aled eyed the narrow bed and then explored the bathroom. It was like living in the lap of luxury compared to his cage.

By the time Malke came back, Aled had found the nerve to have a quick shower. He was still reluctant to lie down on the bed in case he went to sleep and never woke up.

“Price.”

He followed Malke, Graif, and the two other guys, Farn and Wrantz, into a much smaller training arena. The lighting was dim, and it took him a moment to realize that Palk and his entourage were standing at the front of the room. His skin prickled with remembered revulsion as he approached the dais.

Behind Palk, someone shifted his or her feet. It took him a long moment to recognize Kai, whose face was so bruised and bloodied it was like a mask. Malke shoved him hard in the back.

“Keep moving, Price, and say thanks to Kai for saving your ass from Palk, won’t you?”

“I didn’t ask him to do that.”

“Well, he did, so you’d better get down on your knees and thank him real nice.” Malke pushed him into a seat. “Sit here.”

Palk nodded at the trainees. “You four have been chosen to go on to stage two of the Tributes training program. Your training routine will now intensify as you strive to prove yourselves worthy of representing your great nation.”
