“I can’t imagine that feeling or what you have been through, but what I do know is that you were absolutely loved. Your parents would have never given you up willingly, neither would this pack. I would have taken you in myself, had I known you were still alive,” Grace said without missing a beat.

For the first time, Ginger glanced up at the women around her. She could feel the truth in their words. The love that Sofia and Grace had for her. She let out a deep sigh.

“But with all this, can you believe that Chance is pulling this crap calling me his mate? Who’s he trying to fool?”

“From the look in his eye, I had no doubt he was ready to rip the door from its hinges. I’d say he seems completely serious about the matter,” Grace was the first to reply.

“But that isn’t how it works. I would be able to sense it immediately. I’d know, without a doubt, my wolf would know it. Especially after last night…I’d know it.”

“What do you mean about last night?” Sofia asked.

“I mean, after he kissed me, and then we kissed each other. And then we slept together.”

“What? What! You slept with him? You. Slept. With. Chance. You naughty little she-wolf.”

“Yeah, I mean no. It’s not what you think. He surprised me with a kiss. A sweet kiss. Something about mistletoe and Christmas tradition. But just before we fell asleep, we kissed. Really kissed. Then we fell asleep. Or I should say he fell asleep, and I was running around in my head all night visiting the Gods.” She decided discretion called for not letting them know about the incredibly hot sex dream she had, or she’d never hear the end of it.

“So, you made out with him, in the same bed, and went to sleep? No wonder he’s acting so stupid. His balls are so blue his brain shut down.”

Walking toward the front door, Sofia shouted, “Chance! Go home and take a cold shower.”

Grace sighed, “No, this is really happening, sweet girl. The Gods have gifted you with your memories, and it was because of not only your parents’ bravery and sacrifice, but by your own willingness to help the pack. Now, the cloaking majik is breaking down. You have to understand that not only did that majik hide your memories and your identity, it was blocking you from finding your mate. Apparently, he can now sense you, but it will take longer for you to sense him.”

“Or is he just confused because he can’t believe I’m not throwing myself at a guy like him?”

“A guy like him? Just admit it, he’s hot—like really fucking hot.” A wicked grin crossed Sofia’s face. “I’m betting you’ve already done him in that pretty head of yours,” Sofia laughed.

“Hey, I’m not confessing to anything I may or may not have fantasized about. This is so weird. All of it,” Ginger said, pulling herself up off the floor. “I never thought my holiday getaway would lead to all of this. And how do I handle this…and if it’s true Chance is my new mate? How do I handle it if I can’t feel it?”

“Oh, from the look in Chance’s eyes, I’m fairly certain your wolves will be making introductions shortly. And the Gods won’t let this stand unanswered. Trust me,” Grace sighed.

“But I might have a say in that,” Ginger replied.

“Idon’t think you’ll need to worry about Chance for a while. Rafe ordered him to stay clear of you…for now. And everyone knows you need some time and space to process everything,” Lars said, stoking the fire.

“Thanks for taking me to see Grace and Rafe. All those memories, everything…it’s all falling into place right now in my mind.”

Sofia sat down next to her. “And remember, you’re not alone with all of this. As soon as word gets out, which it probably already has, the entire Pack will welcome you home.”

“She’s right. The return of a missing pack member is a big deal for Black Paw. Might as well get used to being a bit of a celebrity at first,” Lars said, stepping out of the room.

“So…he kissed you? Spill it! I want details.”

Ginger smiled, the memory of those kisses made her happy and a bit embarrassed. “He’s definitely a good kisser, if that’s what you want to know.”

“I mean what did he say to you? I know you. You must’ve asked him what he was thinking.”

Ginger tucked her legs up and pulled the blanket over herself. “He said he knows what he wants, and he wants me. He’s so confident and sure of himself that he acted all patient when he said we’ll get together sooner rather than later.”

“And now look at him. He must be climbing the walls right now. For the record, I’m with Grace. You can’t run from your fate. We should find a way to break down the majik that’s holding you back.”

“Uh. For now, I have to plan the next step. Here I was thinking I’d just go home after a nice visit here. Life would go on. But now? I can’t imagine leaving. I have a brother here. Black Paw is my Pack. I don’t know who put the protective spell on me and hid me away, but it kept me safe when I was a helpless child. Now I’m far from helpless. I’m fearless when it comes to witches, and I belong here.”

Sofia quietly pondered Ginger’s admission. “You have a home here with Lars and I, as long as you need it.”

“I know, and James has already told me he has a place for me if I want to stay there. Even if it’s just temporary until I figure things out.”
