“Hal and Siggy Halvorsen’s place? That’s damn near on the edge of Black Paw land, and halfway up the mountain.”

“No big deal. If I hit the trail early enough, I can do it and be back before the heaviest snows hit.”

“Wow. That’s a big honor Rafe is trusting you with. Better not fuck it up,” Lars said, laughing.

“It’s a piece of cake,” Chance scoffed.

“So, see you tomorrow night at the Wolf Den. Don’t worry. We’ll make sure you get home, and all tucked in at a decent hour.”

“Maybe,” Chance replied. As they finished splitting the wood, Chance and his wolf were already looking forward to it.

“It’s not every day a new wolf shows up around here. Especially not a single, female wolf our age,”his wolf said, encouraging him.

“Don’t get too excited. For all we know she could be a total bitch, in the worst definition of the word. And odds are a million to one she won’t be our mate.”

His wolf was practically pacing inside of him. “True, but who said anything about love and lifelong mates? I’m only thinking about a good time, if you know what I mean. And God knows we’re overdue for it.”

“Damn, you make us sound desperate.”

“Just being honest.”

Chance thought about it for a minute. His wolf was right. The tragedy of living in a small, tight knit community was that a young horny wolf couldn’t play around with just anyone. No matter how discreet anyone tried to be, people talked. And not just a little. It only took a rumor to spin out of control and suddenly reputations were ruined. It was Chance’s experience that those kinds of encounters were better left for visits to the city.

But his wolf persevered, and Chance seemed to come around to the idea.

“After all, Sofia’s friend is only visiting. And I can’t disagree, it’s been way too long since we’ve had a little bit of fun. Who knows? Maybe she’s hot. Maybe she’s just our type and looking for a little fun of her own.”

“I guess we will be going to the Wolf Den tomorrow night after all.”

“Welcome to the Wolf Den Bar and Grill. This is about as fancy as it gets around here,” Lars said, stepping onto the covered porch which ran the length of the sprawling log building. Neon advertising in the rustic windows, and loud music gave the place a rowdy tone.

Once inside, they opted for a booth and ordered hamburgers and drinks. Sofia gave Ginger a little nudge. “Check it out. See what I mean?”

Scanning the crowded bar, Ginger definitely noticed the place was filled with its share of good looking, fine as hell men. Sweet Jesus, someone had definitely turned up the heat in the bar and on her hormones.

“Oh, I definitely see what you mean. There isn’t a single man in here that isn’t built like a rock. These are some seriously real men.”

“I told you. I don’t know if it’s the air around here or something in the water, but they breed them differently here.

“I see that.” Ginger thought she might have to wipe the drool from her mouth soon. Everywhere she looked, she saw one super-hot guy after another. It was freaking ridiculous!

Unfortunately, it didn’t take long for her to realize that every one of them seemed to be accompanied by an equally gorgeous woman. To her, it looked like it was date night at a couples’ bar.

“Too bad though. Looks like they’re off the menu.” Taking a bite of her burger, Ginger shrugged.

“But you get the picture. You have to admit the so-called men you run into in the coffee shops and bistros of Crescent Bay can’t hold a candle to the genuine articles we have here at Black Paw.”

Dabbing the corner of her mouth, Ginger quietly drank in the sights—denim, tight shirts, broad chests. What she wouldn’t give to be wrapped up in their muscular arms.

“I get the picture, all right. First, you take me on a run through the beautiful scenery and fresh air. Then you’re taking me out to bribe me with real food and real men? If I didn’t know any better, I’d say you were trying to talk me into moving to Black Paw.”

Sofia feigned surprise, and she wasn’t going to win an Academy Award any time soon. “Oh my Gods! You? Moving here? What a great idea! Why didn’t I think of that?”

Rolling her eyes, Ginger sighed. “You know it isn’t so simple to just pick up and start over fresh. There’s the whole thing called a JOB. You know, so a girl can eat and have a roof over her head.”

“Please, you work from home. You can do that anywhere. But don’t worry, I’ll keep up with my high-pressure sales pitch until you just can’t refuse.”
