Gus and Erin must have noticed the man at the same time.
“Let the others go, except for that man.” Gus pointed to him. “As many of you are aware, the Council does not take the life of any shifter, without a serious crime being committed. We are united when it comes to preserving our species, and our way of life. Therefore, the Council will not seek charges against the rest of you, if you swear upon the spirit of your wolf you will cause no further trouble for, or harm to Ethan Lockhart.”
Erin released the men, one at a time, as they agreed to the terms set forth by Gus.
“Toliver Whitman, you are the lone man to stand accused of orchestrating this crime. As the Alpha of Red Foot Pack, I will grant you the courtesy of speaking. Do you wish to defend yourself?”
The man cocked his head to the side, a gruesome sneer covered his face. “How dare the Council interfere in a matter such as this? That traitor—” Toliver pointed to Ethan. “Broke a contract. He knew the punishment would be death.”
“The woman is innocent of the crimesyouaccused her of. Is that not so?” Gus asked.
“Ariella is a whore!” Toliver shouted. “She deserves death!”
Gus motioned for several men who Cam hadn’t noticed to step forward. “Secure him and place him in the holding cells back at Council Headquarters.
