Pulling her majik back, Erin abruptly dropped the men to the ground. A volley of shouts and curses flew from their mouths. Cam bit her lip, trying not to giggle.

“You expect us to turn ourselves over to the Council—willingly?”

Cam eyed the guy up and down, bile rose in the back of her throat. Nausea churned in her stomach at the sight of the unwashed man who had spoken. He looked like he was about four years overdue for a good scrubbing.

“That’s exactly what I expect.” The firmness of Calder’s voice left no room for doubt.

“Boy, you must be as insane as everyone says you are. I’m more likely to get struck by lightning, right here, right now than I am to turn myself over to the Council.”

“Be careful what you wish for.” Cam’s blood boiled at the man’s cocky comment. She felt her power, stirring deep inside of her. She closed her eyes and sucked in a deep breath, summoning that power. The clouds above her swirled, thunder boomed in the distance, a bolt of electricity surged toward the man, shaking the ground several feet away from him.

She glanced at the incredulous look on Ethan’s face, and shrugged. “You haven’t seen anything yet, baby. I’m just getting started.”

“You all are fucking crazy, you know that? What kind of wolves use witches against their own kind in a fight?” The man spat on the ground.

“I’m no witch. Never have been. Never will be. The powers that I possess are gifts from the gods.” Cam defended.

“You may not be a witch, but the other one is.” The man motioned to Erin.

“Part witch, part wolf. All awesome.” Erin shrugged.

Cam didn’t know much about Erin, but after this she was going to take time to get to know the girl better. She loved her bad assey-ness and attitude.

“I grow tired of this,” Calder said. “What is your decision?”

“Fuck you. That’s our decision.”

Cam’s wolf whimpered in her mind as several men stepped from the edge of the forest. The power within them, insurmountable. Her wolf bowed down as they stepped into the clearing. She had no idea who they were, or how they got there, but what she did know was that the well-dressed trio could destroy her without even casting a glance in her direction.

A group of hunters, still held captive by Erin’s majik, looked as if they had just seen a ghost.

“Is that your final answer?” Calder stepped up beside the powerful trio.

The oldest man in the group clapped Calder on the shoulder. “Leave it to you to keep them all alive for us. Though they may wish differently when we’re done with them.”

Cam watched as Calder shrugged, a smile covered his face. “Gus, old man, thanks for coming so quickly. I would like to formally file a complaint against these men.”

“On what grounds?” The filthy man shouted.

“How about attempted murder,” Cam shouted. She was absolutely sick of these fucks. Her powerful majik tore through her veins at a terrifying speed. Wisps of gray mist oozed from her hands.

“Easy, Cam. As much as I’d like to see you drop these bastards, we need to let the Council handle this.” Calder moved to stand beside her, and placed a comforting hand on her shoulder.

“You’re right,” she sighed, her deadly gray mist fell to the ground. “Huh! That was interesting.”

“We haven’t seen this sort of power in centuries.” Gus eyed Cam with an amused grin. “Is she one of yours, Calder?”

“She is and she makes a mean cherry cobbler. You should stop by her diner sometime.”

“I’ll make sure I do,” Gus promised.

“Can this night get any weirder?” Cam asked her wolf.

“With this much power floating around here—uh yeah. Lots.”

“Awesome.”
