“Through our mating connection, it was actually really cool. I can explain more about it later. Right now, we need to get out of here before more hunters show up.”

“Hunters!” Ethan jumped to his feet, remembering the danger that he faced.“You shouldn’t be here—none of you should be. It isn’t safe.”

Cam and Callie stood there open mouthed while Wyatt laid into his brother. “It’s not safe! Don’t you think you should have told us what you were up against? That we could have helped? Honestly, what the fuck were you thinking?”

Ethan didn’t have time for his brother to read him the riot act, nor did he really want to hear it. “Right now, it doesn’t matter. We need to get the fuck out of here. These guys keep coming like fucking cockroaches.”

“Too late. They are already here.”Calder motioned to the woods just beyond the clearing where they stood.

Everyone lined up, flanking the Alpha.

“You need to get these women out of here,” Ethan whispered. The last thing he wanted was for either of them to get hurt because of his mistakes.

Cam and Erin laughed at the same time.

“You apparently haven’t seen your mate or Erin in action,” Calder smirked. “I have zero doubts they could single handedly take down the two dozen men that are moving in on us.”

“Blindfolded,” Lucas added. “You got this babe? Or do you need my help?”

“You can kick back and relax. I’ve got this. It’s been a while since I’ve had a chance to flex my muscles. That is if you guys don’t mind.”

Ethan shrugged at the ridiculous idea of Erin taking the hunters down by herself or the notion of Cam helping, but he agreed, assuming it was all a joke. “It’s Calder’s territory, you should probably okay it with him.”

Erin glanced to Calder for approval. “Have at em, but try to keep at least a couple of them alive, if possible—so we can find out who is behind this.”

A single shot aimed at Ethan rang through the air, silencing the group. An eerie feeling crept over him, the hair on the back of his neck stood on end as a powerful and deadly majik crackled through the air. Cerulean sparks danced on Erin’s fingertips. He had never witnessed anything like it.

“Witch!”his wolf huffed.

With a wave of her hand, the bullet changed course and headed back in the direction from which it had originated.

“That’s a pretty handy trick.” Ethan suddenly felt foolish for doubting Erin’s abilities.

A volley of shots rang out, bounding through the air toward them. Erin raised her hand again, and the bullets halted. This time, instead of the bullets turning back toward the shooters, they dropped safely to the ground.

“As much fun as it is fucking with them, I really don’t have time for this bullshit. I say we get the show on the road, and wrap this shit up.” With the flick of her wrists, the hunters who had been hidden by the safety of the trees, rose up off of the ground and floated toward them. Identical looks of panic covered each of their faces. Cocooned safely in her majik, their pleas and shouts for help went and answered. One by one, she stripped the weapons from their bodies. Guns, knives and swords piled up at her feet.

“Sweet Odin! Remind me never to piss her off.” Ethan looked on astonished.

Calder stepped forward to face the group of hunters. “Gentlemen, as the Alpha I’d like to welcome you to Twisted Tail lands. You have two choices: you can drop this vendetta against Ethan Lockhart and leave peacefully, or you will be turned over to the Council for trial and punishment. The choice is yours, gentlemen. Choose wisely.”
