Cam heard several new voices behind her. She had no idea where the people had come from, nor did she bother trying to find out. A commotion ensued. She heard Wyatt’s voice as he shouted something she didn’t quite catch, and didn’t bother asking him to repeat.

The world could have chosen that very moment to split in two, and she wouldn’t have batted so much as an eyelash.

Her focus, her concern was her mate. Somehow, he had to pull through this. He had to survive. The thought of their baby growing in her womb, strengthened her resolve.

Her wolf whined in her mind. Overcome with sorrow and grief, the animal in her awaited any sign of Ethan’s recovery.

“Cam, sweetie. I need you to move aside. Erin is here to help Ethan. She needs a little bit of room to move around and do her thing.” Calder pulled Cam out of Erin’s way.

She looked up at Calder, desperation in her eyes. “Do you really think she can help?” She had no idea who the woman was, or what her skills were, but if she could save Ethan’s life then so be it. Though she’d never begged for a damn thing in her life, she would gladly beg the woman to save her mate if that’s what it would take.

“I do. I’ve seen her work miracles on many occasions. If anyone can help Ethan, it’s Erin. Trust me, she will have him up and moving around in no time.”

Cam nodded, knowing the Alpha was only trying to ease her fears, and make her feel better. With little faith in Calder’s words, she turned to watch the newcomer who hovered over her mate. She offered a silent prayer to the Gods. One that would spare Ethan from the cruel fate knocking at his door.

“He’s in pretty bad shape, but it looks like we got here just in time,” Erin said as she pulled a vial of liquid from her backpack. “Did his mate share her energy with him?”

“Yes. I tried to—the best I could, but I didn’t really know what I was doing.” Cam admitted.

Erin looked up at her. “You did a good job, honey. He is going to be just fine. If you hadn’t shared your majik with him, he would already be dead.”

Erin carefully opened Ethan’s mouth and poured the liquid in. Her hands took on an ethereal glow, and she began to chant strange words that Cam didn’t understand. Erin waved a hand over Ethan’s throat, forcing him to swallow the concoction.

The glow in her hands increased, stray sparks of power landed on Ethan’s chest.

Cam gasped. “She’s a witch!”

“She is. Well—partly anyway, but she’s very good at what she does.” One of the strangers spoke.

Cam cranked her head up to meet the stranger’s eyes. He was huge. By far the tallest man she’d ever seen. Her gaze lingered for a second, then flew to the man who had spoken. She’d seen him once before, but couldn’t remember his name. She remembered his face and the tattoos covering both of his arms along with his neck.

“Your opinion doesn’t count. You’re her mate,” Calder joked with the tattooed newcomer.

“True, but Tanner will back me up. Hell, so should you. Twisted Tail wolves are becoming Erin’s regular patients.”

Were they out of their damn minds? Joking around at a time like this. When her mate was dying—er starting to sit up? How was that possible? Just a minute ago he was half dead. Not that she was complaining, she wanted him healthy and alive—she just had no idea how the witchcraft worked.

“Ethan!” Cam raced to his side.

“Easy,” Erin warned. He might be pretty sore for a few days, but he’s out of the woods.”

Cam’s mouth flew open, astonished to see the hole in his chest long gone, replaced by a small red circle—likely where the bullet had entered.

“I was so afraid I’d lost you,” Cam knelt beside Ethan, her arms flew around his neck.

“God, it’s good to see you.” Ethan hugged her back. “I didn’t think I’d ever see your beautiful face again.”

Ethan had never been so happy to see anyone in his life as he was when Cam raced to his side. He had no idea how she figured out where he was, but he was glad she did. No doubt loomed in his mind that he’d be long dead if it hadn’t been for her.

“How did you find me?” It was only then, when he’d asked the question did he realize that he and Cam were not alone. He was surprised to see Wyatt, Callie, Calder, along with a few Black Paw Pack members, Erin, Lucas, and Tanner.

“This is going to be bad—very bad,” he said to his wolf.

His wolf gave zero fucks. Not a single one. He was back with his mate and that was all that mattered to him. Whatever the humans had to work out, they best get it done. He was not about to walk away again because of some stupid human decision.
