Calder yanked his cell phone from his pocket. “Rafe, I’ve got an emergency here. Can you send Tanner and Erin to my location as quickly as possible?”

Wyatt knelt beside Cam. “I’m not sure who Calder is talking to, but it sounds like help is on the way. Have you tried to infuse him with your energy, through your mating bond?”

Cam wiped away the tears that streamed down her face. “I can do that?” Her voice filled with disbelief. She really needed to get better at this whole mate thing.

“Most mates can heal each other through their bond. It’s nothing more than a transfer of energy from you to your mate. I don’t know how long it will take for whoever is coming to get here, but if you can somehow share your energy with Ethan, it might be the difference between life and death.”

Cam nodded to Wyatt, understanding how important it was that she attempt to do as he’d suggested. She closed her eyes, and imagined the majik inside of her as a living, breathing object. It began to take on a golden hue. She tried to reach for it, to grab it and—she didn’t know what.

“I can see the majik, but I can’t grab a hold of it. I don’t understand how I’m supposed to do this?” She cried.

Calder placed his hand on her shoulder. Take a deep breath. Once you see it, don’t try to touch it. I want you to hold on to Ethan and picture the majik moving from you to him.” He removed his hand and backed away from Cam.

“Goddess, please let this work,” Cam whispered. If she’d ever been asked to do anything so terrifying, she didn’t remember. Having the life of her mate literally hanging in the balance while she tried to do something she hadn’t even known was possible, had to have been the scariest thing she’d ever attempted.

Placing a hand on Ethan’s arm, she pictured the golden hue of the majik in her body. Instead of trying to grab it like she had before, she imagined it flowing freely through her and into the palm of her hand.

A tingling sensation traveled through her as the majik appeared to move at her direction. Cam concentrated harder as she envisioned the golden hue of her majik pouring from her hand into Ethan.

“It looks like it’s working!” Wyatt moved closer to Ethan and Cam, carefully avoiding contact.

“Careful, Cam. Don’t drain your own majik,” Calder warned.

She opened her eyes and glanced down at Ethan. His color was still off, but his breathing appeared to be less labored. Feeling for his pulse again, she was relieved to see that it was steadier, stronger than before.
