I couldn’t think. Not with his wall of muscles pressing against me or his heat comforting me better than my favorite blanket. I most certainly couldn’t think when a gentle prodding pressed against my bottom.

Oh my word! Curious, I pushed back, and my insides turned liquid at the rigid length I found.

A low growl vibrated in his chest. “Focus.”

Focus? How did he expect me to focus with that… that… trunk poking at me? My girly bits flipped, and while it was bad enough he could smell my arousal, I was really grateful Cami couldn’t. I didn’t need to traumatize her or be teased mercilessly over my lack of control. Not that she’d blame me if she knew what he was packing.

Kenny’s stupid words flew out of my mouth. Grayson tensed at my back before a deep chuckle vibrated along my neck. Neither helped my blabbering.

“Then I had a vision of Roger stroking his sausage, at an impressive speed at that.”

“Ew,” Cami said, cringing at the image. “Did you have to?”

“If I had to see it, you get to hear about it!” It was my turn to wince. “Except, I kinda announced it to anyone still around.”

Grayson pressed his forehead to the crook of my neck and shook his head. “Lee, you didn’t.”

I dropped my chin to my chest and groaned. “I did. Look, just the other day, I was graced with a vision of Kenny’s self-loving sesh and now Roger’s? A girl can only take so much!”

“I hope you stop envisioning other men and their cocks,” Grayson whispered, and my damn knees buckled.

If the stubborn man hadn’t been holding me against him, I’d have melted into a puddle. I wasn’t even focused on the first part of his words. Hearing that crude word come off his lips set off fireworks in my body. I’d never have guessed that one dirty word would make my nipples tighten and my panties soak.

Grayson ran his nose along my neck. “Hmm… You like dirty talk. I’ll remember that for later.”

On shaky legs, I slipped from his arms and grabbed onto the nearby counter. I didn’t bother looking at Cami, who pressed a fist to her mouth as she suppressed her amusement. Clearly, she’d caught some of what had just transpired.

“Welp, that’s my day. I’m letting them know I need the rest of the day off and crawling into bed. Good luck with the ovens!” I made my way to the front of the bakery without falling on my face.

Reaching the glass windows at the front, I was relieved when neither of them followed me. The feeling soon passed when I noted the storm had returned, sans lightning.

I made a quick call to my boss before tucking my phone away from the rain as best as I could. “A little rain hurt no one,” I muttered and stepped out into the torrential downpour.

Sometime later, I padded up the stairs to my house. There wasn’t a dry spot on my person. A bone-rattling shiver had taken over my body half a mile from the house. I had every intention of soaking in a warm bath before crawling into bed and sleeping for a millennium.

“Holy shit, you’re soaked!”

My right hand flew to my chest as my left sparked with magic. “Kenny?”

“Whoa,” he said, his hands flying up in the air in surrender. “I come in peace.”

Glaring at him, I shook my head and lowered my hands. “What do you want?” I asked, uncaring of my lack of pleasantries. I was all out of figs to give and couldn’t process anything else for the day.

“After your little info dump about the poor doc, you looked upset, so I thought you teleported home. At first, I thought you were avoiding me, but you weren’t even here. Why are you soaked? Why would you walk through this?”

Not many people knew I couldn’t teleport—at least I couldn’t until recently, it seemed. Only a few more were aware of my keen sense of smell. I expect if more knew, they’d keep their scents far from my schnauzer. The knowledge I’d gained about the good people of Assjacket, West Virginia, could fill an entire encyclopedia. Not until Grayson’s return had I failed at hiding my gift.

“Shouldn’t you be back at the school?” I asked and leaned against my front door.

“I could ask the same about you.”

I wiped the water from my face and sighed. “I called in sick. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’d like to go to bed,” I said, and when a sparkle formed in his eyes, I added “alone.”

A hurt expression flashed across his face. “I just wanted to make sure you were okay.”

I. Was. The. Worst.

“Thank you, Kenny. Now if you don’t mind, I’m going inside.”
