I nod, trying not to sound overly eager. “I certainly hope so.”
“You don’t sound completely sure,” he points out mildly.
I raise a brow, unable to fight the smile forming on my face. “I just had one of the best orgasms of my life. I’m more than sure.”
He laughs and tosses the towel aside. “That’s what I like to hear, darlin’.”
We head back into the bedroom together. He’s in full no-pants mode, completely confident strutting around half-naked while grabbing clean clothes. I try not to stare, but he’s almost irresistible.
He tosses me one of his t-shirts. I catch it in midair and flip it open to see it says Harley with a motorcycle emblazoned across the front. It’s a nice one.
“You sure?”
He shrugs. “I’m sure it’ll look better on you because it’s too tight for me to get over my head.”
It’s soft and smells like him. I pull it over my head without hesitation and grab the leggings I left on the chair last night.
While getting dressed, I ask, “Who did this shirt belong to? I’m not wearing some other woman’s t-shirt, am I?”
“Hell no, you are not. First of all, I would never do something that disrespectful to my old lady. And secondly, I already told you that I never brought women to my suite, so how would their clothing get left behind?”
“Calm down,” I tell him. “I was just joking around with you.”
He’s nearly dressed, buckling his belt. “You are the one thing I never joke about. Remember that, darlin’.”
He crams his feet into his boots and gives the laces a mighty jerk before tying each of them. When he turns to me, I wave him away with one hand, “Have a grumpy day, sir.”
Suddenly, he’s all smiles again. “You think this is how it’s gonna be? You and me parting on bad terms? If that’s what you’re thinkin’, you better think again.”
He rushes forward, scoops me up in his arms, and tosses me onto the bed. When he crawls forward over me, I give his big chest a playful push, “Don’t you have places to be?”
“Yeah, I’ve gotta meet my old man and our tech team. We’re pulling that drone apart today. Hoping to find somethin’ we can use to get the Hyenas the fuck out of our territory.”
I nod, not ready to let him go, but not having much of a choice. “Be careful, Jas.”
“I will,” he says, kissing me one more time, staying a moment longer, like he doesn’t want to leave any more than I want him to. After a few seconds, he forces himself to ease back off the bed, grinning and happy. Looking down at me, he says, “And Tessa, one more thing.”
“What?” I ask.
He gives me that lopsided grin again. “Try not to fall in love with me while I’m gone.”
I lean back on both arms and say in my most flirtatious voice, “It might be too late for that, handsome.”
Jasper immediately moves forward and tries to climb back into bed with me. I playfully use my foot to hold him at arm’s length. “Go, do your job. I don’t want Rock or Queenie accusing me of dragging you off task.”
He chuckles, “It didn’t take you long to figure my folks out.”
I wave with one hand, and he gives me a swift chin jerk before heading for the door. This must be what falling in love feels like. If so, I don’t ever want it to end.
Hauling myself up, I rush to the spare room to find proper clothing. Because I think Queenie is supposed to take me to breakfast and then shopping for baby clothing this morning.
Chapter 21
Jasper
My mood begins to shift the second I step out of our suite. Tessa is by far the best thing that’s ever happened to me. Once she feels safe, she’s playful and fun-loving. The perfect counterbalance to my more serious nature. Between the two of us, we could raise a child or two. I’ve already set my sights on that goal. I just need to wait for her to catch up with me.
I head downstairs, noting that it’s cooler in the hallway. It’s a lot quieter too. Unfortunately, the silence doesn’t last. The moment I reach the door, I feel the clubhouse noises drifting up from below. Music filters up from the bar. I’ve never liked music first thing in the morning, but the club girls do. It doesn’t matter because once I get to our meeting room and close the door, I won’t be able to hear it anyway.
