“I better run! See you in a few!”

Jane stepped out in the bright sunlight as Macy’s lyrics began.

Unexpected, we connected

After the rain, through the pain

The light that shines in the darkest night

Is the brightest ever in our sight

For me, that light is you

From now till forever, I’ll shine for you, too

Bright as the sun, shining on our beach

I’ll be yours, always within reach

Hearts as one,

Thy will be done.

Perfect.

Jane reached her spot and pivoted, eyes trained on the opening in the fence for Shelby and their dad. But it was Ryan’s gaze she caught. He stood just inside the opening. He must have entered as she was walking down the aisle. Her heart swelled with happiness—and something else.

Love.

There wasn’t any doubt in her mind. She’d felt it before.

And she was going to tell him.

Tonight.

And if it meant moving to Texas, she’d do it.

In her heart, she knew Casey would approve. His parents and her family made it clear they were on board. So why keep holding back?

She was done with fighting for control. As her sister and Molly had discovered, love happens when you least expect it and always when the time is right.

And life was too short to worry what other people thought, especially when it came to one’s happiness.

Ryan was antsy.

Sitting in the ballroom going on an hour, he was itching to be alone with Jane. Since she was matron of honor, her time wasn’t her own tonight, but he was hoping to steal her away for a short walk to the square across the street before she went inside for the night.

Over dessert, Shelby and Damon thanked everyone for coming and presented gifts to the wedding party and family. They kept it light, and for that, Ryan was glad.

Jane had hinted that her speech for tomorrow would be a tear-jerker when she’d handed him a travel pack of tissues to “please keep for me in your jacket pocket tomorrow.” He’d smiled and produced a pack he’d already put there for her.

Finally, Shelby and Damon said good night, and people started to file out.

Jane turned to him and smiled. “Come with me to see if Shelby needs anything? If she’s good, maybe we could go for a walk? Dad’s taking Noah to his B&B tonight so they can get ready together tomorrow. There’s something important I want to tell you.”

“Of course.” His heart pounded in anticipation. There were important things he wanted to tell her, too. He stood and helped her out of her chair. She took his arm and smiled.
