"I'll fuck you one more time, if that's what you want." Izzy wanted it. Sex with Ulises had been the best he'd ever had, and he'd had a lot of guys. Izzy wouldn't have stopped, but feelings had gotten in the way.
Ulises shook his head, averting his gaze. "You say it like you're doing me a favor."
"Aren't I?" That one question was a low blow and Izzy knew it.
If Izzy had slapped Ulises, he would have gotten less of a response. Ulises flinched and then touched his neck where the lump used to be. It wasn't there anymore. Between Easton, who was a damn good scientist, and the medication, it wasn’t visible anymore. It was as if it hadn’t been there at all, even though it was inside him still.
"Was I just a pity fuck to you?"
Izzy could go for the jugular and answer with a lie. In doing so he would make it so Ulises would never talk to him again. But what would it really prove, beyond the fact that Izzy was an asshole. That much wasn't in question but he didn't need to lie to Ulises and hurt him unnecessarily. "It was never that. I just don't get serious. You know that."
"I believe your earlier implication." Ulises walked over to the door and opened it. "Thanks for the cookies."
Izzy sighed and stood. "I didn't want to hurt you."
Ulises gestured toward the stoop. "You need to leave. I have somewhere to be."
Like hell. Ulises was a cute little liar. The blush told Izzy that much. "Where do you have to be?"
Ulises averted his gaze. "I have a doctor's appointment."
So the reason for the blush wasn't because he was lying. It was because he still believed Izzy's fucking lie.
Izzy raised his hand to touch Ulises’ cheek, but Ulises pulled away, letting go of the door and taking a giant step back.
Izzy held up his hands as if he were under arrest. "Sorry."
"Are we breaking up or not, Izzy?"
"We shouldn't fuck anymore."
"Then get out." As soon as Izzy was on the stoop, Ulises narrowed his eyes. "Everyone tried to tell me about you but I didn't listen."
"You should have, honey."
"You're a jerk. And a…a…great big bag of dicks." And with that, Ulises slammed the door in Izzy's face.
Izzy shook his head. "'A great big bag of dicks'?"
"Shut up, jerk face." Ulises yelled through the door and then Izzy heard the lock click into place.
That had gone better than expected. He’d expected Ulises to cry but no tears had come. Izzy wanted to feel good about that but couldn't muster up the vibes. As he got further away, his stomach clenched.
He'd never once regretted ending it with someone…until Ulises.
Chapter Five
Ulises hated crying in front of people. It wasn't as though Easton was a stranger. They'd become friends over the course of Ulises' medical treatment. As he sat on the examination table, he could feel the emotion building in his chest. On the walk over he had almost convinced himself he was better off without Izzy. His heart needed to get with the program. When it did, he’d finally start believing it.
Who needed a guy whose only objective in life was to get off as much as possible? All fucking with no emotion attached.
That had been the last straw. Ulises thought he could be like Izzy and have a little fun. No emotion. All he needed was a temporary daddy to fill his hole and once it was done, he could go on his merry way.
It turned out that way was fraught with emotional potholes and Ulises had sunk deep enough for the emotion to threaten to spill the second Easton stopped fiddling with the syringe and vial. As soon as Easton started talking he'd burst into tears. He could feel it build in his chest.
Easton's office was a big room inside Wingspan's community center. Counters and cabinets lined the walls.
Easton's back was to Ulises. He wrote in a chart with one hand and held a syringe in the other. Ulises had been to enough appointments to know Easton kept track of the dosage and Ulises’ reaction to it. He’d already measured Ulises’ lump, not that there was that much to measure anymore.
