Mitchell grinned. "And leave a calling card."
"I think we've already done that with the five dead bodies."
"True." Mitchell held Seryn around the waist. "Good thinking, baby."
"I know. You love me because I'm smart." Seryn kissed Mitchell.
"Nah. It's your hot bod."
Seryn chuckled. "Let's see if we can make this job a whole lot easier."
Together they made their way through the house to the upstairs. "If Davorion kept a paper trail regarding those guns, it means he has the cops paid off."
Seryn stopped and met Mitchell's gaze. "And if it implicates you?"
"Then we kill Davorion, get the guns, and return them."
"If it doesn't." Seryn already knew what the plan was, and Mitchell could tell he didn't like it.
"If it doesn't. I take the evidence to the police."
"Davorion pays them off in this scenario." Yeah, Seryn definitely didn't like where it was going.
"Davorion will be very pissed off. Maybe even to the point of wanting a little payback."
Seryn sighed. "I just don't want you to get hurt."
If Mitchell had his way, taking a beating was what he was counting on.
It turned out Davorion kept meticulous records. The files were even labeled, so it took under ten minutes to find what they were searching for. Mitchell's name was mentioned, but only because there was a transaction of Terrell giving Mitchell to Davorion as a payment for keeping the guns hidden.
"We have to get rid of the bodies. There can't be any traces of them, or they'll get me for murder. Not just breaking and entering." Mitchell already knew he had to come clean on the breaking and entering.
"I know a lawyer who owes me a favor." He hoped she was an excellent lawyer, because if things didn't go according to plan, he'd need one.
Chapter Twenty-Four
Seryn stayed behind Mitchell as he walked into the police station. He used his invisibility spell. No one saw him but Mitchell. The plan was for Seryn to get the camera footage and then send it to the lawyer. As soon as he did, he would get the hell out of there. Seryn did the first part of that.
After Mitchell stood at the long counter, waiting for the officer to speak to him, Seryn made his way through the station, trying to find the room where they kept the video footage.
Don't get caught or kill anyone.Mitchell had to know Seryn could promise the first part, but not the second.
I'll do my best.
I know, sweetheart. You're a good boy.Mitchell was taking a risk. Neither one of them liked it but it kept the body count to a minimum and made Davorion, who was a vampire, suffer because prison wasn't a place to find blood easily. Not only that, but it served him right to lose his freedom. He'd taken that and more from Mitchell. So overall, Seryn liked the plan, but he thought killing everyone was a better solution.
Seryn stood behind two cops who discussed a murder case. One of them had their computer open to the login page, but they hadn't entered their information yet. They chatted about something Seryn didn't pay attention to. It took about ten minutes before she finally logged in. Seryn paid attention to every key she pressed and when she was successful, he left.
Seryn had to open several doors before he found an empty office with a closed laptop on the top of it. Seryn grabbed the laptop and headed off the main floor. He took the stairs to the top floor and then found the roof access. Sitting in a shaded area, Seryn used the woman's login to access the cameras.
By the time he found the access point and then found Mitchell, Mitchell was already being interrogated by a plain-clothed officer. Seryn conjured up a dome so he wouldn't alert anyone to the sound, although he doubted people came up there very often.
As soon as he turned up the volume, he heard Mitchell confess to breaking into Davorion's home. "I only did it because I wanted to make him pay for kidnapping me and holding me against my will."
I'm in.Seryn let Mitchell know he was watching. He hit a button on the computer that would download the video feed onto the desktop and let it continuously record.
"So, you're claiming he trafficked you?"
