How could I face the man I had not only kissed but had also pictured while I jerked off the night before? It was uncharted territory for me, and I didn’t know how to handle working with someone I couldn’t stop thinking about. When I couldn’t put it off any longer, I grabbed my laptop and made my way down the hall.

“Good morning,” I greeted as I entered the conference room.

Camille looked up from the stack of papers she was reviewing. “Good morning, Sean.”

“Morning,” Declan replied.

He wore a casual expression on his face, as if nothing had happened between us the night before. I wasn’t sure if I was pleased or disappointed by his nonchalant attitude.

“How is the motion to suppress coming along? I have an appointment with my real estate agent this afternoon, so I’ll be out of the office for a little while, and I’d like to get it filed with the court before I leave.”

Camille passed a stack of papers over to me. “It’s ready for your review. Once you give your approval, we’ll be able to e-file it.”

The three of us spent the next couple of hours discussing the upcoming trial, and I found myself stealing glances at Declan. His forehead wrinkled in concentration as he reviewed the documents in front of him. When my mind became fixated on the dark brown stubble that highlighted his kissable mouth, I could no longer deny that I was attracted to the man across from me. Despite what I’d said in the parking garage, I couldn’t forget about our kiss.

At one o’clock, the alarm went off on my phone, reminding me I needed to leave to meet with my agent. “I’m going to head out, but I should be back in the next hour or so. You can call me if you need anything.”

Declan gave me a head nod. “Got it, Bossman.”

“See you soon,” Camille added.

I double-checked the address for the condo and started walking in that direction. I’d already decided I wanted a place where I wouldn’t have to drive to work every day, and this one would be a good test to see if that was feasible.

As I walked into the lobby of the condo building, my eyes scanned the sleek marble floors, the massive chandelier hanging from the ceiling, and the contemporary art adorning the walls. The place exuded luxury, but as I looked around, I didn’t feel as though it really suited me.

Rita, my real estate agent, greeted me with a kind smile as she approached. “Sean, I’m glad you could escape the office for a little bit. I’m excited to show you this property,” she said as she led me toward the elevator.

“Great. Let’s take a look.”

She rattled off the details while we rode up to the floor where the condo was located. “It has five bedrooms, seven baths, and spectacular views.”

When we entered the condo, my jaw dropped at the sheer size of the place. While my house in Weston was much larger, I wasn’t sure I needed so much space.

I followed Rita as she walked us through the open-concept living area and the kitchen I knew Jasper would love with the top-of-the-line appliances and a huge island. She continued on to the other rooms, pointing out all the features.

When we finished the tour, Rita asked, “So, what do you think?”

“Honestly, I don’t believe this is the one. I think it’s a little bigger than I’m looking for.”

She nodded. “Okay. If you want less square footage, I have another place nearby that I can show you. It’s still occupied, so I need to call the residents to schedule a time to show it. Would you be able to come see it this evening once you’re done at the office if it works for them?”

“That should work fine. I’ll see if one of my kids can come with me. I feel like I’m going to need a second opinion.”

We walked into the hallway, and she locked up behind us. “Sounds good. I’ll text you the address once I hear back from the owners.”

“Thanks.”

Once we exited the building, Rita headed toward her car, and I began walking back to my building. While waiting to cross the busy street, I pulled out my phone and sent Morgan a text.

Are you available to maybe look at a condo with me tonight?

Sorry. I can’t. Going to a party

On a Tuesday?

Yes. Parties don’t just happen on the weekends

Her message included a laughing emoji and an eye-rolling one.
