“That’s right. I’m straight. And distracting yourself with my ass isn’t going to help you pass the test tomorrow.”
Lance sighed. “Fiiiine, your loss.”
Reece let out a soft, relieved sigh.
He didn’t think he could stand hearing one more second of how badly Lance wanted to fuck his ass.
He had to be strong.
He couldn’t let Lance’s words get to him.
He couldn’t think about how flattering Lance’s little rant had been. The part of his body he was most insecure about was gay catnip?
If only Reece could be so lucky.
Chapter 4
The hours passed in a blur of numbers and equations. The backup thermos of coffee got drunk. All their cans of energy drinks were smashed. The wrappers from their snacks were all crumpled together in a giant ball.
Sunrise approached.
They were running on fumes and adrenaline.
Their focus was shot. Were they even retaining anything new? It felt like he’d been staring at the same problem for too long.
It was time for a break.
“Is that snow?” Lance said, blinking slowly at the windows.
Reece stood so fast his chair fell with a clatter.
“Shh!” One of their fellow all-nighters hushed them from somewhere in the distance.
It was Corey. Despite his best efforts at tutoring, Brooks had fallen asleep on one of the couches. His soft snoring had been the only noise until Reece had shattered the quiet.
“Sorry!” Reece belatedly whispered, speed-walked to the windows, and gasped.
Itwassnowing!
Great, big, fluffy flakes. The air was full of it. The streetlights illuminated them all in an expanding glow.
The powder was going to be awesome on the mountains. If only he didn’t have a test tomorrow! He’d be hitting the slopes immediately and skipping class, like any self-respecting powder monkey.
“The test better not be cancelled after all this,” Lance grumbled sleepily from behind him.
Reece had to fight the urge to run out there and laugh like a maniac in the parking lot.
He settled for bouncing on his toes.
“Nice view,” Lance whispered in a tone that instantly sent Reece’s mind back to earlier, when Lance suggested they jerk off.
“Isn’t it? I can’t wait to get out there. If this keeps up, the conditions on the mountains are going to be perfect! You were right!”
“Course I was. I’m right about a lot of other things too.”
“It’s already sticking to the ground - look!”
“I’ve got the perfect view from back here.”
