Running a frustrated hand through his hair Dimitri shot her a level look. "His job is to protect you, Eve."

"Yes, but you said I could come and go as I please," she reminded him tartly.

Not one to back down Dimitri raised a brow in challenge. "Yes, as long as you come back to me, a fact you forgot last night."

Eve shook a finger at him. "You're changing the subject, and secondly you know I didn’t mean to run away, I just wanted to hang with my friends. And I left a note."

Dimitri eyed her finger, his glittering blue eyes following the wagging digit with a predatory look as if he were going to bite it any second. Eve quickly dropped her hand. As if reading her mind Dimitri gave her a knowing grin showing his white teeth. "I'm not changing the subject; I already told you Petr is fucked for losing you."

Eve kicked her feet in frustration. "He didn’t lose me."

"That's not how I felt when I was told you were gone," he shot back with a hiss.

His words startled her. For the first time, she saw it from his point of view. Eve imagined him coming home last night to an empty house and laying in his spot near her empty side of the bed. When did the image of this dangerous man change from a villain to someone who she wanted to hold close to her chest in comfort?

Unbuckling her seatbelt, she slid across the seat and pushed herself onto his lap. Dimitri didn't react as she settled herself onto his lap but Eve knew. She hid her smile at the flexing of his hand just inches from her ass. She could see the little twitch in his hard jawline as he stopped himself from grabbing her. Emboldened by these facts, she wrapped her arms around her neck and brought her lips to his and placed a soft kiss against them.

"I'm sorry. Though I'm not sorry for seeing my friends, I admit I could have handled it better. Don’t be mad at me or Petr."

His hand came up and buried in her hair before forming a tight fist in the strands. Eve gasped and bent her head back into his grip.

"I don’t give a shit about Petr," he growled before taking her lips again.

He kissed her as if he wanted to take everything she was. He speared her mouth with his tongue, filling her with his evocative taste. She felt his hips buck beneath her and imagined his cock swelling with the need for her. Completely forgetting Dominic's hulking presence only a few feet away, Eve leaned back as Dimitri's hands came up to the straps of her dress and pulled them down. In seconds, he had her naked from the waist up. His eyes gleamed like stolen gems in the shadowy confines of the back seat as he stared down at her heavy breasts. There was something chaotic and crazed in his gaze and heavy breathing.

Dimitri began to dip his head to her breasts when Dominic's deep voice broke in. "We've got twenty minutes before the next meeting."

Eve blinked and looked around and realized they were parked outside the house. When did they get there?

Dimitri said something in Russian that she knew was a curse before saying something else to his lieutenant. Even in Russian, she could parse out the dry unfeeling reply from the lieutenant. Dimitri cursed again, turning his hot gaze to her and she recoiled a bit at the frustration. Carefully, he put her clothes back to right and opened the door.

Standing outside of the car, he held her close and spoke low. "Trust me, my sweet Eve, if I had even an hour to spare, I would be painting my name across your skin. But as it stands, I have got to go and I may or may not be home tonight, but you will be," he decreed darkly, silently challenging her to argue.

He didn’t even need to voice his thoughts; she could see a future with her chained to the cross in his playroom for hours if she even hinted at absconding again.

Hiding a smirk, Eve bit her lip and nodded obediently. The action only seemed to frustrate him more. Giving her a rough kiss, he backed away with a grumble and got back inside the SUV.

She was taking the deepest nap when the phone rang beside her. It took her a minute of blindly grasping for the device before she found it and brought it up to her ear.

"Hello," she groaned tiredly.

"Get up and get ready," the familiar voice demanded.

Frowning, Eve turned over and stared at the ceiling. "Who is this?"

"You can't see your caller ID?"

Beyond annoyed now, she sat up. She knew exactly who it was now. "Do you want me to hang up?" she shot back.

She could hear Andrey's evil smile in his voice. "Hang up and I will just keep calling you back. I'll make every electronic device in that whole house blare at full volume."

"What do you want? And more importantly, why would I do anything you say? I haven't forgotten what you've done to my brother, asshole!"

Andrey snorted. "You have a selective memory. Have you forgotten who ordered me to do that? Besides, your brother doesn't complain about how I treat him."

Eve's gaze narrowed and she thought of the two's suspiciously close behavior the last time they were at the house.

She heard Ricky in the background. "I told you to let me talk to her."
