Sapphire knew it was cowardly of her, but she didn’t care. She needed a buffer to hold back whatever conversation she knew was coming her way. How could she talk about anything when the words of the argument still echoed in her head?

Sapphire could swear she saw the gleam of sharp understanding in Finn's hazel eyes just for a second, before it was washed away by her usual sardonic look.

"Free food? Yeah, you don't have to ask me twice."

With nothing else to Band-Aid the awkward tension in the room, Sapphire felt the urge to turn and look at Hayden and Vic's faces despite every cell in her body screaming not to.

A sudden dinging rang out from the kitchen and Sapphire nearly collapsed in relief and jumped for joy all at once. Without a second glance, she spun around to the kitchen.

"Gotta take care of these cakes, I’ll be upstairs in a minute," she hurriedly called out, praying none of the guys followed her.

Standing under the skeletal floor near a group of weight machines covered in tarp, the Three Heathens stood in a tense semi-circle. Joel leaned against one of the machines with his hands in his pockets looking resigned to what inevitably lay ahead.

Sapphire and Finn were still getting the café ready to close. The construction crew Joel hired had gotten a lot of work done today. The flooring on the second floor had been torn away and the joists replaced.

Hayden stood with his arms crossed, staring at the far wall. He could feel Vic's eyes on him, wanting him to look at him so they could talk. Talking was the last thing Hayden wanted to do. There were so many thoughts crowding his head right now, threatening his very sanity. He thought of Garrett's smug face and what he made him admit to. The muscles in his jaw clenched at that.

Earlier he had reacted on instinct. Seeing one of his brothers being cornered Hayden just stepped in. His first thought had been that they didn't need Vic killing the kid in the shop, but when the meaning of Garrett's words hit him—it made his skin boil.

Finally, Vic spoke. "I think we should talk."

Hayden counted to five and tore his gaze from the opposite wall and looked at him. There was something almost uncertain in Vic's expression that made Hayden's anger simmer even hotter. Normally, Vic walked through life with the same cocksure outlook as Joel. Nothing ever fazed the man. Nothing ever did faze him—until he met her.

"There is nothing to talk about," he said darkly.

Vic shook his head and stepped closer. "Look, I-"

The simmering anger within him started to boil over and Hayden snapped his full attention to Vic. He could see the flash of surprise in Vic's eyes and watched as he tensed all over, readying himself for a fight. Hayden wanted to laugh. If he unleashed what he was feeling now, he was certain he would kill the man.

Out of the corner of his eye, Hayden could see Joel shift against the machine. The bored look was still plastered on his face but he knew the man was more than alert, watching and waiting.

Hayden gave Vic a savage look. "What the fuck do you think this is, Vic? Some sort of clubhouse where we just accept new members regularly?" he growled. "What Joel and I found with her was just…just a fluke," he sputtered, his anger growing with every word as he thought of Sapphire's beautiful face. "A grace of God, if you will," he explained. "You think I didn’t know how you felt? I saw it the first time you met her. I saw it so fucking clearly. I saw before you even realized," he nearly spat the words thinking back to that day when they went to see him at the farm, introducing her to Vic for the first time.

Something in Hayden's gut had told him all morning not to go. To find any reason to back out. He knew Vic, and he knew the man who had never really fallen for anyone would fall for her. There was something about Sapphire that mesmerized Hayden as well as scared him. There was an endless quality to her enchantment and he knew that if she wanted to, she could be the one to bring Vic to his knees.

Hayden sighed and turned, scrubbing his face. "I saw it because I recognized the same look in myself," he breathed, before turning back to him and pointing a finger into the man's chest. "But don’t get this twisted in your head. She's mine," he growled, his eyes locking with Vic's. Hayden could see fury shining back in his dark eyes at the blatant challenge.

Vic slapped his finger away from his chest.

"Umm excuse me?" Joel spoke up, clearly annoyed.

Hayden ignored him and continued to look at Vic. "I suggest you start burying any of those littlefeelingsyou have for her real quick becausefriendshipis all you'll ever have with her."

Chapter 12

Vicglancedathiswatch as he heard the twin growls of the motorcycles start up. They were leaving a little late today. Tonight, there was going to be a big poker game at the bar after closing, they no doubt wanted to spend as much time at home with her now since they would get home late. Vic didn't have to wait long. Coming around the side of the building, Hayden's motorcycle appeared first followed by Joel's. With one last look at the café and their treasure inside, they increased their speed and took off down the road. Vic stepped back from the second-floor window.

He saw their rules. Knew them well. But they wouldn't invite him in. Wouldn't let him play. So, what choice did he have? He was here to break their rules.

Sapphire winced for what felt like the fifth time at the uncomfortable feeling inside her as she reached for another clamshell container. Carefully she placed the red velvet slice of cake inside the packing and snapped it close. Ever since that day between Garrett, Vic, and Hayden she had been wearing the plug daily.

Finished with the cakes, Sapphire stared at the mound of containers all containing delectable wedges of frosting-covered slices ready for individual purchase. Leaning her jean short clad hips against the counter, Sapphire folded her arms under her breasts and thought of that night once the men returned from the bar. Hayden had come home like a man on a warpath. She had sat up in the bed, startled by the stomps up the stairs and waited for the bedroom door to swing open. Silently he came in. He said nothing as he reached for her.

She had tried to speak to him, to discuss what had happened earlier that day in the café, but she had spotted Joel over his shoulder. Joel's shake of his head told her not to try, Hayden was just too far gone. Swallowing back her words, Sapphire held her questions for another day and lost herself in the pained need on Hayden's face. That night between the three of them had been intense, urgent even.

The following morning Joel had eagerly pushed her against the bed as she tried to get dressed and grabbed the next size up plug. It was still small but bigger than the tiny one they had been using. He teased her with his tongue before working his lubed up finger in and out of her back passage. Sapphire had to use the covers to muffle her moans as the tight ring of her ass slowly relaxed under the gentle but persistent assault. Finally, he eased in the little pink t-shaped plug until it sat nestled inside. With a soft slap to her ass and a kiss to her lower back, Joel instructed that from that moment on she would wear it for two hours each day.

It wasn't as if she didn't like having her ass played with, she thought as memories of Hayden's and Joel's touches heated her face. It was just that the damn plug was a very odd and uncomfortable feeling, to say the least. The constant full feeling without the pleasure was pointless in her opinion. Although both Hayden and Joel assured her over and over again it wasn't pointless at all, it was to help train her and get her ready—for them.
