Knowing this was the end oftheir conversation, she refused for him to have the last word. "We shallsee,” she said lightly before sitting up directly out of the water and tiltingthe camera down to show her bare breasts. Rahina had to bite her lip at thedeep curse she heard from him just before she pressed the disconnect button.
A few seconds later a textchimed on her phone. Tapping it open, she nearly dropped it in the water as sheread the text.
(I am going to strap youspread eagle to my bed and fuck you for hours for that.)
Chapter 15
Pulling up to the restaurant Rahina parked her car and gotout. She was running late as she always was when it came to her family dinners.Dressed in a pair of dark skinny jeans, a black and white striped shirt, and apair of red wedges Rahina was tucking her keys into her tiny yellow purse whenshe spotted her brother, Amit standing at the entrance with a group of hercousins. Amit’s eyes were fixed on her with narrowed suspicion, and she knew hemust have seen her new yellow car. Refusing to acknowledge his obvioussuspicion, she smiled wide at the group as she received a few greetings fromher cousins. Amit said nothing as she walked into the restaurant.
Walking into the private room, she cheerfully greeted herparents, aunts, and uncles before making her way over to her two sisters.
“Rahina,” Safina practically screamed before launching intoher with a fierce hug. “I missed you.”
Sixteen years old, Safina was the perfect mixture of her twosisters. She was incredibly smart, normally obtaining the highest grades in herclass and extremely outgoing. To her mother’s satisfaction, Safina waspleasantly outgoing without the willful stubborn streak her middle childpossessed.
Hugging her harder back, Rahina grinned at her groan ofpain. “I missed you more! How was your school trip to Seattle?”
“It was amazing!” Pulling her to sit on plush couches,Safina launched into her recounting of the trip.
Rubina, who was already sitting on the other side of her, gave her a bemused look.
After a few minutes, they heard their mother interruptSafina’s endless story, calling her over to where she stood with their aunts.Grumbling with a sigh, Safina obediently stood and headed over to their mother.
Without delay, Rubina scooted over to Rahina and fixed herwith a level look.
“What?” Rahina laughed at the sudden seriousness in Rubina’seyes.
“Do not “what” me, I saw your post on social media with youposing in your new car,” she hissed, giving her a look that demanded answers.“Just how the hell did you get a new car when the last time we talked you weretalking about leaving the Company?”
Looking up and over her sister’s head, she made sure no onewas coming their direction and looked back to her with barely contained glee.“Roman surprised me with it the morning before he left for out of town. It’s mybirthday gift, can you believe it?”
Rubina’s mouth dropped. “You're telling me he gave you a carfor dating less than a week. Don’t you think that is odd?” Rubina’s beautifulface held none of the excitement Rahina expected to share at this great news.Instead, she looked at her as if she was insane. “Aren’t you worried he may bea psycho or something?”
Amused, Rahina threw her arm over the rounded cushion of thesofa and leaned heavily on it as she prepared herself for an argument. “Trustme, I already know he is a psycho, and honestly no, I’m not worried. If youknew him, you would know that spending tons of money means nothing to this man.You should see his bathroom Rubina, it’s so magnificent I want my ashes spreadin there.”
“Rahina, I’m serious. A car this soon is too much.”
Sighing, she looked away from her in thought. She could seeher sister’s point of view, she honestly could, but Roman was different. Thereprobably wasn’t a man like him anywhere else, so it was understandable that shewas worried.
Leaning further until their foreheads nearly touched Rahinawhispered a confession. “We haven’t had sex yet.”
“What!” Rubina jolted away from her as if she had been shot.“And he already gave you a car. That only freaks me out more.”
“I’m trying to tell you Roman isn't some crazy guy,” Rahinawhispered exasperatedly. “I know what it looks like, but if you would have seenhow understanding and kind, he was to me when I was devastated, then youwouldn't be so worried. He cooked for me, he held me as I cried, and he broughtme breakfast in bed. Besides,” she leaned back with a confident smile. “I feellike it’s been a lot more than a week if you count our thousand lunches.”
Rubina gave her a dull look in response. “I don't countthose.”
“Well I do, Miss Hater from the Equator,” Rahina stuck hertongue out at her and laughed.
“So, are you going to tell me?" Rubina’s questioncaused Rahina to give her a questioning smile. Rubina frowned at that."Are you or are you not going to tell me what has you so happy” shegestured to her sister’s bright eyes and large smile. “Besides your “Joker”boyfriend and your new car, of course?"
Rahina could feel the bubbling energy inside her rise againat the thought of sharing the good news. Ever since she got the call thismorning, she had been ecstatic. Running down the stairs from Roman’s bedroom, the first thing she spotted was Mosca standing on the other side of the largepool in the backyard tossing a ball with the playful dogs. Running outside inher pajama shorts and tank top, she ignored Mosca’s surprised face to herexcited squealing. He endured her launching hug on his person as she excitedlyexplained the news. Mosca’s prosaic response to her excitement turned out notto be at all what she was looking for, and she was excited to tell someoneelse.
Leaning in so that no one else would hear she whispered toRubina. "I have a meeting with Ephemeral Dance Company tomorrow."
Rubina’s eyes went wide with sudden intrigue. "Isn'tthat the one run by the guy who left the Boston Ballet Company when you firstgot there?"
"Yes," Rahina nodded, she almost too excited tokeep in all her excitement, but she did. She wasn’t ready to share this newswith anyone else. "He left because he kept butting heads with everyone inmanagement, including Theodore."
