“You need to tell Izzy how you feel. Decisively. Leave no question in her mind about how you feel.”

Nodding at both him and myself, I rise to my feet, then take off out of the kitchen and up the stairs. I go against every bit of politeness in my body and open Izzy’s door without knocking, greeting her shocked expression with a searing kiss, my hands holding her face as I feed on her mouth like a starving man.

When she lets out a small whimper, I pull away and gulp for air, lean my forehead against hers to look down into her eyes.

“Youare everything I’ve ever wanted, Isabelle Ross. All I will ever want or need. I’ll never regret our love or our bond.”

Her gray eyes blink tears down her face. “Are you sure?” Her voice is barely there.

“You and our pack are my world. Now, and forever. Nothing will ever change that.”

Chapter Forty-Two

“Ay up miduck!”

Izzy freezes at the bottom of the stairs, her expression comically confused as her eyes dart from me to Matthew beside me, and back again.

Shit. The words just flew from my mouth like projectile vomit.

“What did you just say?”

I blink. “Ah… I said, ‘Hello.’”

She chuckles with a devious glint in her eye. “That’s not what you said.”

“What’s going on?” Will comes into the living room, drying his hands on a towel.

“Asher just called Iz a duck, and I think she’s insulted,” Matthew provides, not looking up from his phone and sounding uninterested.

“Why? Ducks are cute.” Will purses his lips and sticks the towel in his apron.

Izzy laughs. “I wasn’t insulted. I just didn’t hear what Asher actually said.”

I let out a disgruntled sigh. Suppose I need to explain. “It’s just a greeting. Everyone says it where I’m from.”

Izzy comes closer, looking a touch devious, her eyes hooded. “Say it again,” she demands, her tone a bit sultry.

And I am now powerless.

I clear my throat, sit up a bit, say it again with less enthusiasm.“Ay up miduck.”

The grin on her face is absolute joy as she rushes over and sits in my lap.

Well, I couldn’t complain about this turn of events.

She leans in and kisses the side of my face. “See? That wasn’t so difficult.” Her teeth sink into her bottom lip before she leans in again, this time close to my ear, where, although everyone in the room can hear her, she whispers, “You should speak Northerner to me more often.”

Her hand glides down my torso to rest on my stiffening cock, and I let out a quiet groan, which makes both Will and Matthew chuckle at me.

“I dunno, man. I’d do what the lady says.” Matthew gives me a knowing look. “I find doing what you’re told can be very beneficial.”

Well, then. Who am I to argue with that?

Chapter Forty-Three

“Ican’t even tell you how happy I am, Bec.”

I can barely get the words out without choking up as I peer into my phone screen at my friend’s smiling face. Her honey-blond hair is down in loose curls about her face, a light bit of makeup accentuating her features, which tells me she’d been on video conferences this morning.
