Watching Jane pull up our driveway and park feels right, like she’s home. I don’t want her to leave when this shit is over either.
Rory grabs a pan loaded with stuff and I grab Tyger while Jon opens her door and leads her into our house.
“This is it, babygirl. Hope you like it.”
We all watch her as she looks around the great room.
“Is that a doggie door? Wait, is that a Viking oven?”
I can see Rory’s face light up with a genuine smile.
“Yeah, beautiful. We want you both to feel at home. We want this tobeyour home.”
Watching her run her hands along the front of the oven, she turns and looks at us with tears streaming down her face.
Not being able to not touch her at this moment, I go to her realizing I hate any reason for my woman to be crying,
“Why the tears, baby? Is it not the right one?”
Feeling her tears on my chest, I see Ror and J both look worried. Yeah, her crying doesn’t sit right with any of us.
“No, it’s perfect. It’s the one I’ve always wanted. For you guys to do that and then the door for Tyger, who you know means the world to me… it’s all so much. You’ve given me so much and I haven’t done anything but bring this trouble around you and your amazing family.”
She still doesn’t fucking get it and I’m about two seconds from spanking her ass to get it through her head.
“Baby, look at me. You give us so much more than you can ever imagine. You give us your body, your love and you calm our souls. We all three can be grumpy bastards on a good day and we know as a package, we can be a bit much. We know you’re going to get shit out in the world at times from people who want to judge or don’t understand how we choose to live. We also know the kind of person you are and that you’ll most of the time take it all and not tell us. This stove, the doggie door, things like that? They’re just stuff to make our home your safe place.”
“Beautiful, what you give us you can’t quantify. Love, caring, compassion and tenderness is just the tip of the iceberg. You have enough love and passion to handle all three of us, and my love, that’s saying something.”
“Babygirl, you’re trying to measure the unmeasurable. You are home to us. You are our world and the woman we want to grow old with and have a family.”
Somehow during all of this, we’ve encircled her in the kitchen. I know her tears now aren’t sad, but I still don’t like them.
“I’m in love with you guys too. I honestly never expected to feel this way about any guy, let alone three.”
I wipe the tears from her eyes and kiss her. “Love you, baby. Going to get your bags from the SUV.”
Jane
“Babygirl, you being you is all I’m going to ever need. Love you.” The way Jon kisses me has my toes curling almost instantly.
“You do what you want here, the house is yours. I’m gonna go deal with some paperwork in the office for a bit.”
This kitchen is a dream. Not only does it have the stove and oven I’ve drooled over for years, but it’s got a farmhouse sink and marble countertops both of which are amazing and play off the dark cabinets dreamily.
I start taking the stuff out I brought over to make dinner. Arms come from behind and hug me to a big strong chest. He kisses along my neck, ever so gently from the base up to my ear.
“Remember what I wrote to you in the last note I left you, beautiful. You are the joy of my life. I’m so completely in love with you, there aren’t enough days left in our life for me to show you how much.”
He’s a born romantic. He doesn’t see it but he is.
“That’s just ’cause I gave you the right answer to theStar Warsquestion.”
Rory laughs against my neck.
“I would have had to show you the error of your ways if you hadn’t. You need any help with dinner?”
“Nope, I just gotta mix it together and throw it in the oven with the potatoes. Once it’s in, I need to hang up my scrubs for tomorrow.”
