“Now quit stalling and read me some of this romance book shit you love so much.”
Giggling, she opens the tablet and scrolls through what looks like dozens of books. She picks one, opens it and goes to start reading.
“Now, before I start reading, just know that I read all sorts of romance books, but I have a feeling this one might start that second round sooner than you think.”
My woman has a shit-eating grin on her face as she starts to read.
Watching her face as she reads, I realize that I’m not falling in love with her, I’m already there. In this short time, she has wiggled her way into my heart in a way that I don’t think she will ever leave. I have this gut need to protect and provide a safe place for her. She is who all my thoughts center around now and I can’t wait to have her living with us and to be able to tell the world she’s mine, ours.
I decide that even though I’m not quite ready to say it out loud, I’m going to spend the rest of the night showing her just how much she means to me, and I do before she finishes the first chapter.
It’s still early when I leave to go home. We woke up and spent the next few minutes enjoying each other’s company. Knowing that she had to get to work, I let her get up and shower alone. I made her coffee for the morning. I was extremely proud of my self-restraint in not following her into the shower. That was like Herculean levels of strength there.
Pulling into the driveway, I can see that both Rory and Jon are still home. As soon as I walk through the door, both of them look up from the table with eager looks to see how the night went. Fuckers are nosey.
“Mornin’.”
Jon glares at me over his coffee cup.
“Fucker, don’t think you can just say morning and not elaborate on that. Spill the shit. How did last night go? You didn’t leave this morning before she was up, did you?” Even when he’s giving me shit, he’s worrying about her. Fucker is a goner too.
“Of course not. She had to get ready for work. If I had stayed, I would have made her really late. Last night was fucking amazing. I ain’t gonna give you details as that’s between me and her, but, brothers, there are a couple of things you gotta look out for.”
Ror speaks up, “Like what? She got some trauma or something we don’t know about?”
“Just that till last night, the only sex she’d ever had was with the lights off and under the covers. Whoever her exes are, they are definitely pieces of shit, that’s for sure.”
Both seem to be in shock at what I divulged.
“Don’t worry, she knows that’s not how we do things, and that we’d all want to see to explore her all over.”
Ror is glaring at me. “How fuckin’ diplomatic of you, J. On that note, I’m heading to the shop so I can leave early to get ready for my dinner with Jane.”
“I know we can’t take her ridin’ yet, but we need to order her a helmet. Probably one for each of us to carry for her.”
Jon speaks up as he finishes what has to be his second or third cup of coffee. “I was thinking next weekend, we’d all go over to the dealership in Centralia. It’s supposed to be nice, and that’s a good ride. Jane’s got something planned with that friend of hers, Vicky, we haven’t met yet.”
We all agree and get up to start the workday.
Rory
Getting all my tools sorted in my toolbox again has helped the morning pass faster than I thought it would. I can’t wait to spend some time alone with Jane. I know we’ve gotten to know each other well with our letters, but to sit and observe her and how expressive she is, I could watch that all the time.
I decide to head into the office to look over the rebuild that is scheduled to come in tomorrow. As soon as I open the door to the office, I hear a voice that puts me on edge.
“Come on, you know you want this. I know you share with your brothers and I can do that for all of you, anytime.” Kathleen, the woman who is so desperate to snag a brother just to get the title of old lady, is really reaching to come to the shop and bug Jon.
“Listen, I don’t know what you’re thinking, but you just did two things that have gotten you banned from our club.” Shit, if he’s got his fingers up counting, he’s right at the edge of losing his shit. I walk down the hall and enter the main entrance area to see Jon holding up his hand with two fingers.Shit.I quickly send off a text to Juan, Jameson, and Shane, for one of them to get their asses in here.
“First, you disrespected someone who is important tomyfamily and was invited to family day. A dayyouweren’t supposed to even be there. Second, you come into our place of work. Unless you’re in an actual relationship with a brother, you know that’s against the rules. I don’t know why you think the rules don’t apply to you, but I’m done. Get out of here. You are no longer invited to come to our clubhouse at all. If I see you there, I’m going to forget all the manners Ma taught me. Brothers, see that she leaves the property and kindly remind her to leave all of us alone and act like she never knew us.”
“I know you want me! I’m the one you want to share, not that loser cow Jane! She’ll never be good enough for you!” Her screeching gets louder as Shane and Jameson start physically moving her out of the building. It’s a good thing they took her outside. My reaction might have gone against the whole code of not hurting women, though to be honest, she barely qualifies as human.
I head into Jon’s office to check on him.
“You okay, brother? I know I only caught the last of that, but I knew if you were countin’ on your fingers, she had you on edge.”
“That bitch came in here and made a pass at me, claiming that she was born to be the president’s old lady. Not mine, just the president’s. She’s got more than a screw loose. When I first shot her down, she started carrying on about why would we be interested in some fat cow whose own mom didn’t want her. I think they might have gone to school together.
