A moment later, he came, and I took it all. I swallowed it down until he finally loosened his grip on my hair, his body relaxing on a powerful exhale.
“Wow.” He blinked a few times. “That was…”
I laughed, patting him on the chest before leaning back against the seat. “Good.”
He chuckled and leaned over to kiss me, the taste of him still on my tongue. “You’re incredible.” He gave me another peck. “You know that? Don’t let anyone ever convince you otherwise.”
My chest filled with warmth. How did he always know exactly what I needed to hear?
He tucked himself back into his pants then leaned over to kiss me as the car pulled to a stop. I hadn’t even paid attention to where we were headed, but we were parked next to a large apartment building.
“Where are we?” I asked, glancing around. And then I saw it—the giant red gondolas high above, “Roosevelt Island” emblazoned on the side in white paint. I turned to him, my lips spreading into a smile. “Seriously?”
He nodded. “I’ve never been, and it seemed like something you would enjoy. Want to play tourist with me?”
“I—yes.” I wrapped my arms around his neck. “Thank you.”
I adjusted my dress and then followed him out of the car. It was a balmy evening, and we climbed the stairs to the boarding platform, horns honking as they paused on the street below. The station was relatively empty, and I hoped we’d have a car to ourselves. This was our last night together, and I didn’t want to share him with anyone else—even strangers.
“Do we have time for this?” I asked as we waited for the next gondola to arrive.
He cupped my cheeks, threading his fingers through my hair. “Yes. Thanks to you.”
I tilted me head to the side. “What did I do?”
“You helped me see what was really important.” He pressed his lips to mine, shocking me with the public display. But I was even more stunned by his words because it felt as if he was saying that I was important.
We boarded the tram, and it felt as if we were in a bubble gliding over the city, past bridges and cars. I moved from window to window, enthralled by the view. Jonathan chuckled.
I tilted my head to the side, unable to decipher his expression. “What?”
“You’re cute.” I scrunched up my nose, and he added, “It was a compliment.”
He came to stand behind me, bracketing my body with his arms. I turned to face him, and he slid his hand between us, inching it up my thigh. My body quivered with anticipation, desire pooling in my core.
“Would you be happier if I told you you’re the sexiest woman I’ve ever seen?”
“Maybe.” I melted into his touch, his lips grazing my neck.
He slid his fingers beneath my panties, wasting no time. I shivered from the contact and the idea that anyone could be watching.
“Did you ever imagine me doing this?” He teased my clit, the bundle of nerves thrumming with need.
I shook my head, biting my lip as I held back a moan. My imagination had been limited by my inexperience. But now…ohmygod.“Jonathan,” I begged.
“What do you want, baby?” he rasped in my ear.
I closed my eyes, swallowing down the emotion that one word brought with it.Baby.Not Sumner or Sum, but baby.
I don’t want this to end.The words were on the tip of my tongue, but I knew better than to say them. I’d told myself that I would accept this for what it was. I would ask for nothing more.
Even so, with my hands clutching his jacket, I was completely at his mercy in every sense of the word—my body and heart on display for him. Available to him to do his bidding.
“You.” I swallowed. I felt even more frantic than usual, the knowledge that our time was running out in the forefront of my mind.
He shook his head, a smile teasing his lips. “Later. Back at the hotel.”
I pouted, but then he thrust a finger inside me, and I gasped. “Oh…”
