“Get your ass to the hospital, Storm’s been hit by a car, and the driver fled.”

Wylde cut the phone as I leapt to my feet. Vengeance was at the garden centre today, but Sparrow was here. I rushed out calling for her, and she glanced over.

“The hospital. Storm’s been in an accident.”

Sparrow didn’t hang around; we were on our bikes within seconds. I wondered if this was a genuine accident or if Fox had made a move. Damn it, we’d not been as focused on Storm as we should have been. From now on, Dagger or Blade would be assigned to her until we got a handle on this. There’d be no arguments. Storm would have to suck it up and learn the hard way.

Storm was in a fighting mood, and I was her target. The woman's glare was rather disturbing, but I wouldn't let her intimidate me.

“I told you everything I witnessed,” Storm stated.

“You saw Miles Fox?”

“Yes. It wasn’t an unknown assailant. I clearly saw his face as I blacked out.”

“He was alone?”

“Yes. Oh. You were looking for a hitman.”

“Yeah, and now I’m curious if he found one. If he did, why did he attack you himself?” I asked, more talking to myself than to Storm.

“How would I know?” Storm bitched, and I sent her a stern look.

“That was me wondering out loud.”

“Don’t. It gives me a headache,” Storm complained. The curtains to her bay were yanked open, and Sapphire stormed in. The look of relief on her face took my breath away, and I realised just how much Sapphire cared about her sisters. No matter what happened between us, Sapphire would never leave the Royal Harlots.

It was a slap in the face, that truth, because I’d not even realised I’d been thinking it. But the facts were there, right in front of me; the woman I wanted would forever be a Royal Harlot, and she’d always be their president. I had to consider what that meant for me and any future relationship I might have with Sapphire.

“You’re awake,” she stated.

“Yes. I’m fine, just a few bruises and a minor concussion. Can we blow this joint?” Storm demanded.

“No. Not until I hear back from a doctor. Shut it, Storm, I’m not arguing. You'd better ring Soul, he’s frantic and riding,” Sapphire said.

Sparrow handed Storm a cell, and Storm winced. “I was on the phone with him when Fox hit me.”

“It was Fox?” Sapphire snapped.

“Yes,” Storm admitted.

“You go nowhere without either Blade or Dagger with you. Please don’t argue, Storm, I’m not interested. You have at least one twin with you at all times. Your safety is paramount. If not, I’m about to let Soul stuff you inside the RBMC, and I’d like to see you escape those fuckers,” Sapphire threatened.

I was slightly amused when whatever Storm had been about to say faded. But there was a pressing matter I needed to deal with.

“I’m going to put another BOLO out on Fox. He failed this time, Storm, and that will bother him. Fox is obsessed with you. He’s dangerous and you’ve been treating this like a joke. That ends now,” I said, and Storm’s glower returned.

“Listen, cop, I’m well aware,” she snapped.

“Good. Take care of her,” I said to Sapphire and left them to battle. I’d no doubt Storm would try to wriggle her way out of protection, but Sapphire clearly had a viable threat to handle her sister.

Sapphire – two days later

I looked up at the sound of bike pipes. A lot of bike pipes, and they didn’t belong to my club. I raced out of Royal Ink with Lantern, and I growled as I saw a parade of about twenty female bikers. The Bloody Femmes MC. Our enemy. Brazenly riding at the front of them was Foxy, the Manchester chapter president. She caught me looking, and a smarmy smile crossed her face. Telepathically, I reached out and yelled for Belladonna to alert all Harlots that the Bloody Femmes were here.

‘Wait for it,’Dagger hissed in my mind, and I guessed Belladonna was letting Dagger view through my eyes.
