Asha’s touch became deliberate. It was no longer a question, but a claim. She mapped the curve of Max’s throat, the rapid flutter of her pulse, the heat beneath her scrubs. Max trembled, a soft sound escaping her, half-plea, half-invitation.

“Keep your eyes on me,” Asha murmured. “I want to see you.”

Max did. And in that gaze—open, trusting, undone—Asha found something dangerously close to surrender.

“You’re a dark horse, Doctor Patel,” Max whispered gently.

“I find feelings hard, but when I know what I want and how I want it, I know how to take control. Does that work for you?”

“Maybe you should feel how wet I am. That might answer your question,” Max moaned as her eyes locked onto Asha’s.

Asha slid her hand slowly down Max’s body, under her panty line and into her soft, silken folds. She swore she could feel the pulsation of Max’s clit beating under her fingers. Soft circles traced around, as Max expelled gentle moans, still hyper aware of their surroundings.

“Wow. You are really fucking wet. Take off all of this. I want you,” Asha breathed before moving in to kiss Max deeply.

Her fingers slid inside of Max. One. Two. Slowly curling up inside of her, making her body writhe with pleasure. Asha knew exactly what she wanted. Her mouth traced down from Max’s lips to her thighs and around to her clit, which was eagerly waiting for attention.

Asha started to tease it with her tongue, tracing small circles before sucking on it as her fingers fucked Max harder.

“Oh my god, that feels so fucking good,” Max moaned as she moved her body in time with Asha’s mouth and fingers.

As Asha fucked her harder, she felt Max tense up around her fingers. She knew she was already getting close. She knew she was about to explode. Asha slipped her free hand down her own body, and touched herself, building to a wave of pleasure at the same time as Max. She felt herself cum hard as Max’s waves of pleasure gripped onto her fingers inside.

“Fuck,” Max moaned as she laid back like jelly.

Asha slowly removed herself and laid next to her.

“I wanted to make you cum, that was so fast. I never cum that fast,” Max whispered.

“You did make me cum,” Asha replied, followed by a gentle kiss.

“So, you freak out about your feelings, yet you can do that to me with no problem?” Max laughed.

“I guess so, yeah. Feelings are scarier. Opening up is way too much sometimes,” Asha sighed. “I learned early that emotions weren’t valuable,” Asha continued, voice steady despite the ache. “Achievement was valuable. Perfection was valuable. But feelings? Those were messy. Inconvenient. So I stopped offering them.”

“Until now?” Max asked softly.

“Until now.” Asha lifted her head again, meeting Max’s eyes. “You scare me. This scares me. But I don’t want to keep living in fear of my own emotions.”

Max’s eyes were suspiciously bright. She turned and kissed Asha’s forehead, her lips lingering. “I see you,” she whispered. “All of you. The brilliant, terrifying, perfect, messy, beautiful parts. I see you, Asha.”

Asha felt something break open in her chest—not painfully, but like a door finally unlocked. She kissed Max, slow and deep, trying to pour everything she couldn’t say into the touch.

They lay there in the quiet, wrapped around each other, as the minutes ticked toward midnight. Outside, the hospital hummed with its usual rhythms. Inside this small room, time felt suspended.

“So what does this mean?” Max asked eventually. “For us. At work.”

Asha tensed slightly. “We’ll need to be careful. Discreet. It might jeopardize our positions.”

“I know.” Max’s fingers traced her spine. “I’m not asking you to broadcast it. I just—I need to know this is real. That when we leave this room, you’re not going to pretend it didn’t happen. You’re not going to treat me like I don’t exist.”

“It’s real,” Asha said, and she meant it. “I can’t promise I won’t panic. Or overthink things. Or revert to ‘Doctor Patel’ mode when I’m scared, but I won’t be a dick to you. I need to figure it out.”

“I know.”

“But I can promise, I won’t just pretend this didn’t happen.” Asha propped herself up on one elbow, looking down at Max. “This changes everything. Not just at work. Everything.”

Max’s eyes widened. “Really?”
