WALKER: She came home to Starlight Bay but didn’t tell anyone and then crashed into the snowbank in my front yard. Obviously with the weather, we can’t get her car towed out so she’s staying.
WALKER: What do I do?
SAWYER: Her brother is the guy that sent me the case of beer last Christmas with the note saying he’s still your #1 BFF, right?
WALKER: Yes. Murphy.
I can imaginethe eye roll Sawyer has at the memory. Murphy was serious, but I thought it was hilarious. The guy is a massive puppy dog…just all-around great guy. I’d do anything for him which is why I need to know if crossing that line with his sister is a bad idea.
SAWYER: So, you want to bang his sister?
WALKER: Yes
SAWYER: I feel like I can’t tell you no because Hallie is my ex’s sister and now I’m fucking in love with her and probably asking her to marry me soon
WALKER: WHAT?
WALKER: Dude that’s amazing
SAWYER: She’s amazing
SAWYER: But you need to decide what your rules are. If it’s just sex make sure you’re both clear about what that means. If one of you wants more and the other doesn’t, don’t do it.
WALKER: See? And you thought you were bad at this advice thing
SAWYER: So you know what you’re doing?
WALKER: Not a clue
SAWYER: Well let me know if I have to get my snowshoes out to come get your ass if she kicks you out.
WALKER: You own snowshoes?
SAWYER: DON’T GET KICKED OUT
Now why didn’tI think of that…

Despite Sawyer’s brilliant advice, I’m no closer to figuring out what to do with Lacey in my house and in my bed than I was before.
I don’t normally bake—that’s Sawyer’s gig—but I managed to find a sugar cookie recipe that didn’t have a million steps and got to work.
The kitchen is a mess and it’s a stark reminder why I’m behind the scenes at Coastal Eats while Sawyer, as grumpy as he is, runs the front. The guy is talented and heavily sought-after, but he’s content with what we’ve built.
And so am I.
My phone buzzes on the counter, and I rest the spoon in the bowl as I pick up the device, my heart jumping into my throat as I read the message.
MURPHY: Why is my sister at your house?
How the helldoes he know that?
MURPHY: We were supposed to go home together
MURPHY: She’s not picking up her phone
