Forty Three

Rowan

"You know Rowan? I like you,"Cole says as he pours himself whiskey in a clear, crystal glass. "You want some?" he offers.

I shake my head. "I don't drink."

Cole smirks. "I know. Just wanted to see if you would indulge yourself." Cole puts the whiskey away and downs the whole cup before slamming it back on his desk. "So, you love my daughter."

This morning I woke up with my arms wrapped around Jane as she slept soundly. We both didn't have our clothes on, and I loved sleeping next to her and feeling her soft, smooth skin on mine.

I put some clothes on and was about to make her some breakfast downstairs, but Cole walked in on me in the kitchen and decided to have a little chat with me.

I sent a quick text to Jane saying that I was in her father's office and that I'll talk to her when I'm done with him. She hasn't responded, probably because she is still sleeping.

God, I wish I could go to her.

"Yes, sir," I say.

"Did you know about your brother?" Cole asks.

"No. I didn't."

Cole chuckles. "My men went down to your apartment this morning and we couldn't find him. We were going to send him to prison like Jane wanted but he wasn't there. Any idea why?"

Yea.

After I skinned his entire body, I dumped his remains in the ocean.

I shake my head no and Cole just lightly shakes his head and laughs. "You could have at least asked me to join."

"He’s my brother." I shrug. "Plus, if Jane told you not to do something you wouldn't do it, just to make her happy. Me on the other hand, I don't care if Jane doesn't like what I will do, as long as it benefits her, and she gets justice for that shit then I'll do what I please."

"You're going to take good care of her. I already know it."

"You're not mad?"

"At first I was," Cole explains. "But then after you killed your own brother for her, I changed my mind. I like you, Rowan. Always have. Hell, even that dickhead, Ace likes you and he only likes a few things, Aria, Thalia, Killian, and himself."

"Ace told me to tell you but I didn't know how to tell you yet. Plus, I liked the world Jane and I were living in. It was just me and her."

"I know how you feel. There are a lot of men who think like you."

"So, are we good then?" I ask him.

Cole nods his head and sits up in his chair. "Yea. We're good. Thank you for making her talk again. I haven't heard her voice in years, and I missed it. I missed her talking to me a lot."

"It was nothing. It's her you should be thanking. All I did was piss her off which made her yell at me."

Cole laughs. "Yea, that's my girl." I was about to stand up so that I could leave his office, but he starts talking again which makes me freeze. "Does my daughter know what you’re doing with your siblings?" I turn my head to look at Cole, but he raises an eyebrow at me. I sit back down and lean back in the chair. "I mean that's a lot of siblings you have, Rowan, and they all live around the world. What are you going to do with them?"

"I've already contacted one of them. He is living in Utah right now with his adoptive family. He is an underground boxer."

Cole whistles. "Sounds like trouble."

I smile and nod my head. "He is. But I'll fix him up when I see him."

"And when is that?" Cole raises an eyebrow at me.
