"There has to be a reason someone just stops talking, right? I mean who just stops talking out of nowhere." I shake my head, fed up with this conversation and his ridiculous questions. I go to walk past him but I feel his hand catch my wrist making me flinch and shove him away from me. I furrow my eyebrows at him, wondering what the hell he is doing. "I heard rumors that you don't talk anymore ‘cause of something that happened at the ball where the Russians attacked. Is it true?" Andrew asks, making me lift my hand and slap him in the face, hard. "Damn honey, you hit hard," Andrew smirks down at me, and all of a sudden I am taken back to three years ago.

"Damn honey, you look good. Never knew someone this gorgeous could attend a party like this." I heard someone say making me turn my head and see a guy with blonde hair and a smirk so wide it makes you just want to smile back at him. "What's your name honey?" he asked as he put his hand out for me to take.

I looked down at his hand and he had a crown tattoo on his finger.

Attractive.

"Jane." I smile at him.

"Jane," he repeats. "Such a beautiful name for a beautiful girl."

My cheeks heat up. "Thank you." I try to move my hair in front of my face, so he can't see my blush but he puts a strand of my hair behind my ear.

"Don't hide your beauty." He smiles down at me as if I am the girl of his dreams.

"Spaced out?" Andrew says, which makes me focus back on him. "Yea, I do that a lot. I can relate." Andrew smiles cockily and I take my hand out of his grip. "No wonder my brother likes you. You're a pretty thing to look at." Andrew trails his eyes down my body while biting his lip.

I push him off of me so that we have space between us.

Thankfully I hear footsteps walking towards the kitchen which makes me look at who is about to enter. I see Rowan walk inside the kitchen. He is wearing his usual attire; black shirt, black pants, and his messy combat boots that he always wears.

"Hey," Rowan says as he looks at me. His eyes show concern and confusion. "You okay?" he asks before looking at Andrew. "Did you do something?"

"No, man. I just asked her a question and she freaked," Andrew lies, and I feel Rowan's eyes on me.

Before he can ask me anything, I walk past him and leave the kitchen.

Thirty Two

Rowan

I watchJane walkout of the kitchen, practically running, before looking at my brother who is just leaning against the counter with an innocent expression on his face.

His smug expression is making me question a lot of things.

Something about Jane being so wary of my brother makes me feel like there might be something going on that I don’t know about, but should.

"What just happened?" I question him.

Andrew furrows his eyebrows at me. "What do you mean?"

"Why did she just run out like that?"

Andrew shrugs his shoulders. "I don’t know man. That’s your girl right there."

I walk towards Andrew until I am face to face with him. "Jane isn’t the type to start drama. If I hear anything regarding you bothering her, I will personally make your life hell."

Andrew’s eyes widen. "Woah dude, calm down. I was just joking around with her and she took it to heart. No hurt, no foul. I didn't mean any harm."

"Andrew, Jane isn’t someone I want you to joke around with. I’m serious. If I see you doing some stupid shit like that again, I’ll make sure your face is fucking black and blue. Understand?" I raise an eyebrow at him.

"Dude, are you serious-"

"I asked you if you understand. Do you?" I say, cutting him off.

Andrew rolls his eyes and shakes his head lightly.

Fucking jackass.
