"She is a unique individual," I state.

"Yea, but what do you think about her?"

I refrain from clenching my fists or glaring at him. "I think she is a unique individual who looks like she has gone through a lot more than people assume."

"She has," Ace says, surprising me.

"What happened?"

Cole and Layna never told me about what happened to Jane. All they told me was that she doesn't talk and one of the main reasons they hired me was because I know ASL, and I didn't ask questions.

At least until now.

I don't know what happened to Jane, but I know enough to form an assumption.

Ace and Aria look at one another and then Aria looks at me.

"The gala from three years ago didn't only affect Thalia. But that story isn't our story to tell. If Jane didn't tell you yet, then she will soon."

Jane

I smileat Thalia before leaving her bedroom.

As I walk downstairs, I see Rowan and the De Luca's talking. Aria is smiling while leaning into Ace as Rowan is just standing with a stoic expression on his face and looking at them.

I don't see Killian anywhere so he must be in his room.

Rowan is the first to turn his head to look at me and then Ace and Aria follow.

"Hey, Jane. Are you going to stay for dinner?" Aria asks. I shake my head no and walk closer inside the kitchen. "Do you want to take some leftovers with you so you don't have to make any food tonight?"

I shake my head no again.

"Alright, well if you need anything, shoot us a text," Ace says before looking at Rowan. "It was nice to see you again, Rowan. I'm glad you got the time off you deserve. Take care of Jane for us and remember what I said," Ace gives Rowan a knowing look.

"I will." Rowan turns to look at me. "Ready?"

I nod my head and he walks past me and goes to the front door. I wave goodbye to Aria and Ace before following Rowan.

When we get inside the car, Rowan starts the engine and drives out of the estate.

I reach my arm over to the radio and turn the volume up so that it isn't so quiet in the car. I then turn to my side and look out the window, watching the houses and trees pass by.

I liked visiting Thalia today. She looks like she is doing better, despite everything that happened. But then again, that's just how Thalia is. She pretends she is fine when in reality she is probably crying right now.

Landon is getting big too. He is looking a lot like Alexander but with brown hair and bluish, greenish eyes. He is the perfect mix of Thalia and Alexander.

Rowan pulls into an unfamiliar parking space which makes me turn my head to him and raise my eyebrow. He doesn't look back at me. Instead, he parks the car and unbuckles his seatbelt.

I pound on my window making Rowan look at me. "Stop pounding and get out," Rowan opens his car door and gets out before slamming the door.

My jaw stays open in shock as I process what is happening.

What the hell is happening?

I open the door and get out. I see Rowan pull out his phone and send a quick text before I walk up to him.
