"Don't shoot," the guy says, sounding super familiar.

What the fuck?

I go to where the light switches are and turn them on to see Killian.

"Don't try and sneak up on me and we won't have that happen next time," I say as I put my gun back in my waistband.

"I thought you were some intruder." Killian gets up from the ground. He is wearing a black hoodie and some black basketball shorts. "What are you even doing here? Shouldn't you be at your house, killing your brother?"

I furrow my eyebrows at him. "My brother is locked inside one of my rooms at my apartment. I will handle him how I see fit once I've talked to Jane and figure out what exactly happened."

Even though I have a good idea.

God when that idea went through my mind, I wanted to fucking end him.

But I need to talk to Jane first to make sure.

Killian shakes his head and laughs. "God you all are so fucking stupid." I furrow my eyebrows at him.

"How so?"

"You guys are all just so in love aren't you?"

From what I've learned about Killian, he hates love and everything bright and colorful. He's had a fucked up life for a teenager.

He lost this girl he loves, from what I know, and knows what his future will look like. A future he doesn't want.

"Sorry that we like the feeling and you don't."

"Fuck you," Killian mutters before walking past me and going to the kitchen. I follow him. "We all know what happened. The whole story," Killian says, sparking my interest. "And before you ask me what happened you need to talk to Jane. I have no right to tell you."

"Is she doing okay?"

He opens the fridge and grabs a water bottle. "I don't know Rowan; how would you feel after finding out the hurtful truth that set your world on fire, burning it to the ground?" he asks. "You need to talk to Jane. She's upstairs in her room. Thalia isn't there, Jane is by herself." I am about to leave the kitchen but Killian talks again. "Please don't break her heart, Rowan. She's gone through enough and she needs to finally be happy. Everyone needs a moment where they are happy. Jane, she is happy with you so please don't ruin that."

I nod my head at him. "I won't. I promise." I say and Killian nods his head which makes me leave the kitchen and run upstairs, heading straight to Jane's room.

When I am in front of her door, I take a deep breath as I feel my stomach fill with a tingle and my heart beat rapidly against my chest. I open her door slowly and slip inside her room, closing the door behind me softly. I look at her bed and see that she has a book in her hand, but she is staring at me.

"What are you doing here?" she asks as she sits up, the moonlight shining on her from her opened window.

"I'm here to know the rest of the story." I walk closer to her, and Jane just leans against her headboard, closes her book, and puts it on her nightstand. "What are you doing up this late reading?"

"Trying to see if I can forget, but obviously I can't," she answers. "You were there that night, Rowan," Jane says and anxiety fills in my chest. "I remember someone bringing me to the hospital. Brown hair, brown eyes with specks of blue in them, and arms so full and big I could feel them even under a full suit."

She isn't wrong.

But she doesn't know the truth from my side of the story from that night.

I sit down on her bed and face her. "The night of the gala, I attended with my brother and father to represent the organization I work for. I was supposed to be finding new recruits and such but instead, my attention was on you when you first walked in." I say, and Jane just has a straight face as I speak to her. "Long, light baby blue dress, your natural hair in a half up and half down hairstyle with a baby blue bow in your hair. You had a natural pink lip balm on and a blue chain bracelet on your wrist, which I learned was worth over six thousand dollars," I say, imagining her, walking down those stairs behind Thalia and Alexander Russo. My mind was only on her.

"If you noticed me, why did you never come up to me?" Jane asks.

I shrug my shoulders. "I should have. I wish I did but you can say I was scared."

Jane laughs and shakes her head. "That's a lie. You aren't afraid of anything."

Now it's my turn to laugh. "You couldn't be more wrong," I say before continuing my side of the story. "You see that whole night, I kept my eye on you, up until the awards and dancing started. I was there mainly to look after Thalia because I technically still worked for the De Luca's. I watched Thalia go up and get her award and then when she started dancing with Alexander, I tried to look for you but I didn't see you anywhere. Next thing you know, the Russians came in and started shooting up the place. I tried to look for you so hard, Jane. I didn't know anything about it but I seemed to have fallen in love with you when I saw you walking down the staircase. And guess what, baby? I am still in love with you. I just have the guts to finally admit it. The only thing I am ever afraid of is losing you and I lost you that night only to find you outside, laying on the balcony with your dress ripped and shoved up to your waist. When I saw you, I was fucking terrified," I say, while feeling a small tear roll down my face.
