I hate that I want to know more about her and want her to talk to only me and no one else. I want to be the one to save her.
And I fucking hate it.
As I hear footsteps coming down the stairs my head turns towards her when she walks inside the kitchen.
Her long curly hair is down, and she is wearing a black band shirt with loose shorts. She looks like she just woke up, but she is fucking perfect nonetheless.
She looks at me and her cheeks turn red for a moment before she turns around and walks to the fridge.
"How'd you sleep?" I ask. Jane doesn't do anything; she just continues looking through the fridge. "Are we back to ignoring each other again?" I ask and she hides herself by stepping inside the fridge more. I get up from the stool and I walk closer to her so that I can move her away from the fridge. I close the fridge and turn her around so that she will fucking look at me. "Fucking do something!" I yell and Jane flinches before backing away from me.
I feel my stomach drop and my brain yells at me for talking to her like that.
Fuck.
I close my eyes and take a deep breath.
Fuck she frustrates me sometimes.
But I have to remember that I am talking to Jane.
Her brown eyes with rings of honey stare up at me. She is trying to act mad, but I know it's just a wall she is putting up. I know she is secretly scared and trying not to show her true emotions.
"What was that for?"she signs.
"Because you're ignoring me."
"I'm not ignoring you. I just want to be left alone."
"Okay, but you're not communicating with me back, fawn. Some people would take that as ignoring," I say, but Jane just turns around to walk away so I grab her wrist and pull her back so that she is facing me. "I’m sorry I just yelled at you. I shouldn’t have done that," I apologize and Jane just turns her head so that she can look me in the eye. "What's wrong? Did I do something? Are you mad that I left you?" Jane rips her wrist out of my hand and her glare at me deepens.
Now she is pissed.
Good.
Better than being fucking scared.
"You’re not denying it." I walk closer to her. "You missed lil’ old me, huh?" When I am close enough to her, I lean down so that our faces are a centimeter apart. Jane doesn't move her head away which makes me smirk. "Yea, you fucking missed me. You missed how I stare at you from across the room ?" I ask, leaning closer, but she doesn't say anything. "You missed me, huh? Right, Jane? I bet your fucking heart is pounding-"
"I couldn’t care less that you left! The whole world doesn't revolve around you, Rowan!" Jane yells.
Yells.
She fucking yelled.
Jane Reyes finally cracked.
For a few seconds it seems like time just stopped. That it was me and her in our small, secluded world where there were no worries. It was just Jane and me.
Up until she backs away from me and puts her hand over her mouth.
"This is just the fucking beginning, fawn," I say in a low voice. "You think that was bad? Just wait because I'm going to be making you talk up a storm by the time I'm done with you."
Jane shakes her head back and forth before turning around and running upstairs.
Oh, it's so on.
I'm going to get Jane Reyes's voice back.
