I look up at her and smile. "Good. A lot better than I was yesterday."
"You looked very drained out, so I know you needed time by yourself. But as long as you are feeling better than the day before, then that's all that matters to me," Lana says and she gives me a warm smile.
"Things with Dante yesterday were draining. But I feel a lot better today," I say while giving Lana an assuring smile.
I meant what I said.
Yesterday, all I could think about were those moments with Dante and at first, I was scared that he was still alive and that he would come after me because I killed him, but Dante is dead, and I got the closure I needed.
Now I just want to go back home.
Layna has been busy with stuff around the house. I only saw her last night so that she and I could talk about everything that happened. She was very worried about me, but she is happy that I got rid of Dante.
Alex and Cole checked up on me as well. Alex said they are going to be leaving for America this week which I am thankful for because I miss my home.
My mom and dad are back at home. My dad had to leave Sicily early so that he could take care of stuff in America, but he told Alex to tell me that he can't wait until we are back home.
"I bet they were. But you are a very strong girl for going through all of that and then coming out with a smile on your face."
I open my mouth to say something but a voice interrupts and cuts me off.
"She is," I turn my head to the side and see Ace walk into the kitchen. His hands are in his pockets as he leans against the wall. "You are a very strong girl, Aria."
Heat spreads to my cheeks and then I look away from Ace.
"Well, I'll leave you two be. I have some things to do in the bigger kitchen," Lana says before I hear her footsteps leave the kitchen.
I look up at Ace and see him walking closer to where I am sitting on the stool.
"How are you doing?" Ace asks.
"Good. Much better than yesterday, thank you."
"Don't thank me," Ace says.
I haven't seen Ace since yesterday.
But I have been thinking about how he held me right after I killed Dante. I cried into his chest for a few minutes before Ace got us out of the building and put me in the car. I felt safe and his arms around me felt comforting.
"I'm sorry for being a bitch to you lately. You were just trying to protect me, and I shouldn't have been so rude to you," I state.
"You could make it up to me by letting me take you to dinner," Ace says and I raise my eyebrow at him.
"Smooth, Ace," I say with a smile on my face.
"I'm serious. I'll forgive you if you let me take you out on a date," Ace says as he walks closer to me. He takes my hands in his and looks down at them. "I need you to say yes."
I furrow my eyebrows at him. "Why do you want me to say yes?"
"Because I need you to remember, Aria. If you come on this date, I'll tell you whatever you want to know."
"You barely even know me," I tilt my head to the side and Ace's lips lift a little.
"You couldn't be more wrong," Ace mutters and he looks up at me to stare at my eyes. "I know a lot more than you think, amore."
"Okay then."
Ace smiles softly and then he lifts my hands and kisses my knuckles. "Get ready and then meet me outside."
