"Get the hell out of my house, Dante," my mom says and she picks up my head and places it on her lap.

I wince while she does, feeling an ache in my neck, making me want to cry.

"Mrs. White-"

"No. Get the fuck out of my house. I don't want to see you around my daughter ever again. I don't want you to breathe in the same fucking air as her. And so help me god, Dante, if I ever do see you again I will kill you," my mom says in a calm but also threatening tone.

She never yells.

Or threatens to kill people.

I don't even think she has even killed someone before.

"Lisa-"

"Get the fuck out of my house! You're lucky my husband isn't home to kill you himself!" my mom yells, holding me close to her.

Next thing I know, I hear footsteps walking farther and farther away and then the front door slamming shut.

Layna sits next to me on the floor and she brushes my hair with her fingers.

"We won't ever let him near you again, Aria. I promise. We'll protect you."

"It’sfunny how you love her so much but then act as if you despise her because she doesn’t remember you," Leo comments.

Right now, we are in the car on our way to this warehouse that Aria went to.

When we rescued her from Dante, I put a tracker into the phone that Alex gave her and thank god she took it with her when she left this morning.

After the talk I had with Layna I went back to my office to find Aria's exact location. When Leo came over, he and I left for the warehouse.

It's in one of the nearby cities which isn't far from where the estate is.

Probably one hour away.

The drive has been quiet, but I know that Leo wants to talk shit. He always has some shit to say about everything I do but I allow him to say whatever he wants because he is my best friend, and he does it to fuck around with me.

Before we left, I made sure Thalia was fed and that she would be okay with Layna. I promised Thalia that I would have her mom back soon and I meant what I said. I want to have Aria meet Thalia to see if it sparks something, a core memory as the doctor said to me.

"It's complicated," I mumble to Leo as I look outside the window.

The land we are driving on is pretty dry and it's full of dirt. It's hot as fuck today too. I shouldn't have worn a suit today.

"Complicated?" Leo raises one eyebrow.

"Leo, my fiancé has amnesia. You can't tell me that that's not complicated," I rub my forehead while explaining to him.

"No, it is. But why do you have to act like you hate her?" Leo questions.

"Because it's easier, Leo." I lean my head against the car headrest while also getting a little annoyed with these questions.

"Why not just make her fall in love with you? Do what the doctor said and help her remember you while also trying to have her fall back in love with you. Maybe when you kiss her-"

"We already kissed Leo," I admitted and looked at Leo.

Leo widens his eyes. "When?"
