Except Dante is of course sitting in the chair that is in front of my mattress.
Fucking weirdo.
"What were you dreaming about?" he asks while having a stern look on his face.
I'm not going to tell him the real dream.
He would beat me until I'm black and blue if I told him I was dreaming about another man.
Although the dream felt familiar. Like a distant memory or something.
The guy in the dream seemed so consuming. I wanted everything he gave me.
But in that dream, he seemed hurt and scared.
Distant.
"Nothing."
"Don't lie to me," Dante says while clenching his hands.
"I'm not. It was nothing," I shake my head.
Dante stands up from the chair. "Aria, don't lie to me. You don't want me to-"
"But I'm not lying," I say while leaning back against the wall, trying to get as far as I can from him, hoping the wall would just disappear.
"I know you, Aria. Who were you dreaming of?" Dante asks as he walks closer to me.
"I swear," I say at the same time he grabs my arm and pulls me closer to him.
"Were you dreaming of him?!" Dante yells.
"Dreaming of who?" I ask as tears are threatening to fall from my eyes.
I hate him.
I don't want to be here anymore if it means I'll be stuck with him. I can't stand him.
I'd rather die than live a life with him.
"Stop lying to me Aria!" Dante yells at me.
"I'm not lying! Let me go!" I yell back at him.
Dante slaps me across the face and then pushes me against the wall. "I know you were thinking about him. Even when you don't remember shit, you still only think about him don't you?!" he yells in my face.
I could smell the alcohol from his breath.
"I don't know who you're even talking about!" I yell at him while crying.
"You say that, but I know you're lying, Ari. Stop lying to me all the time. The more you lie the worse it gets for you," Dante says.
I don't say anything making Dante slap me again. By the time he raises his hand to hit me again, I hear the cage door open and then a gun firing.
Dante swings to the side pulling me with him and then he turns around to see who is entering the cage.
I try to move my head to the side so I can see who walked in, but Dante struggles in front of me.
