He can't boss me around.
If he thinks he can, then he's about to get a very harsh reality check.
After I leave Ace's office, I walk towards the kitchen where I see Layna.
For the past three or so days I've been here, I've been busy with doctor appointments and resting because that's what everyone wanted me to do.
The doctor said that I don't have any more of whatever drug Dante put in my system, but he believes that whatever serum Dante's doctor gave me, made me have amnesia.
He caught me up to speed, saying that it has been two or so years since the party with Layna and that Dante kidnapped me. But obviously, he left out a lot of details. He told me who Emma, Val, and Mia are and then how the Americans and Italians are in an alliance, surprisingly.
He didn't tell me much about Ace or the reason why he is helping us or why we are all here.
I walk up to Layna who is sitting down on a chair eating while also looking at her phone.
"Want to do something reckless that might get us in trouble?" I ask once I walk up to her. Layna stops chewing and looks at me. "If you say no then I'm going to do it anyway."
"Depends," Layna says while there is still food in her mouth.
I almost cringe when she opens her mouth to say no. I hate it when people talk with food in their mouths.
"I want to kill Dante," I state.
I swear Layna almost chokes on her food before swallowing it. "What?" she asks and widens her eyes. "Absolutely not."
"Why not?"
"Because it's Dante." Layna raises her eyebrow at me and stands up from her chair. "Plus, you should be focusing on yourself and trying to get better."
"I am better."
"You have amnesia, Aria. Nothing about that says you're better." Layna deadpans.
Although Layna is right, I need to kill Dante.
It's the type of closure I need.
"Please, Layna," I beg while leaning on the counter.
She puts the dish in the sink and walks towards the other side of the counter to face me. "Does Ace know?" Layna asks.
"Why does it matter if he knows or not?" I furrow my eyebrows at her.
Layna nips her lip.
A nervous tick I know she has.
"Because he's the boss. He has to know everything going on in his country. Plus, he is the one who is trying to find Dante."
"Yea but why go through him and do it his way when I can do it my way which is faster and more convenient for me."
"Because you should be focused on getting better."
"Layna, you said that more than once. I know I should be, but Dante is something I need to manage. Not you."
"It's still not a clever idea. You handling Dante by yourself is never a clever idea."
"That's why I'm asking you to come with me," I state.
