"Say you'll stay, and I won't," Dante demands.
I shake my head and look to the side, but Dante grips my chin with his other hand and makes me look at him.
"Tell me you understand." I continue to cry while not saying anything. Dante lets out a frustrated grunt and he lets go of my hair and pushes my head to the ground so that I am laying on my side. "Guess I have to take different measures then."
Dante starts kicking my stomach and a few times his boots make contact with my face making me taste copper as the blood drips from my lip.
Closing my eyes and praying as I try to erase the pain he causes.
I'm at his mercy, pleading and begging.
Five
PRESENT
It's beena day since Dante last came into my cell.
The last time he was here he started day one of torture. He told me he was doing it to teach me a lesson. He also said that we would be back to normal soon if I just took whatever he gave me.
I really don't want to go back to what he and I had. It was horrible.
I wanted to cry every time I was around him and I still do.
He is the only one to make me feel this weak.
They have been feeding me but I'm not going to eat whatever they give me.
Not because I don't trust them, which I don't, but also because I can't eat anything without wanting to throw up.
"Good morning, baby," I hear Dante's voice as he opens my cell door. I look up and see him with a tray of food in his hand and then a sick smile on his face. He smiles as if everything is okay, and it is for him. "Don't look so down, beautiful. I'm not going to do anything to you yet so calm down, Aria." Dante sits down in the chair in front of me, before putting the tray down in front of me.
This cell doesn't have a lot.
The only thing that's in here is the chair that Dante sits in whenever he visits me, a mattress without any springs for me to sleep on, a blanket, a bucket for me to wash myself, and then a small bathroom where there is no mirror, only a toilet, and sink.
Every day I get a reminder that I am Dante’s prisoner. I always want to break down and cry and scream at the top of my lungs.
"What do you want now Dante?" I ask him.
"Today I just want to ask you a couple of questions. See what you know. Luis told me to see how well this serum worked."
"What the fuck did you give me, Dante?" I ask as I lean my head against the wall behind me.
"I'm asking the questions here, Aria. You're answering them," Dante says while giving me a warning look. "So how long do you think it's been since that party you were talking to Layna about?"
"A week at most."
Dante’s eyes widen and he shakes his head with a small smile on his face. "Well shit. I'm impressed," Dante's lips turn into a smile. "Do you know who Emma Russo is?"
I shake my head no. "Why?"
"Just seeing what kind of serum this is."
"You keep saying something about a serum, but I have no clue what you mean by that."
"If I tell you everything now it will ruin everything for later. Be patient, Aria." I refrain from rolling my eyes at him. "Do you know Alicia De Luca and how she died?" I shake my head at him again. The name sounds familiar, but I have a feeling it's because my father did work with someone who has the last name. "Does the name Francisco or Anastasia ring a bell?" I shake my head again and Dante's smile widens. "Well, shit."
"Dante, what is with these questions?" I furrow my eyebrows at him.
