His engine turns over, and he screams at Ralph to get in.

This ishiscar.

The car he drove to my wife’s house.

To help Ralph torment her.

Ralph scrambles into the car.

He slams his door shut.

And I swing the axe.

Chapter 126

Tilda

The passenger window shatters, and pieces of glass shower over Ralph as Ethan’s axe cuts into the doorframe.

I pull open the front door and step outside.

The driver steps on the gas, but Ethan’s grip on the axe doesn’t falter. He pulls it free as the car jumps forward.

But the car is facing the wrong way, and he has to turn around.

I can see movement through the windshield, the driver frantically trying to turn the wheel. And I can hear Ralph screaming through his now windowless door. But I can’t pull my attention away from Ethan.

He’s…

Gods, he’s so hot.

My Ranger swings the axe again.

Metal hits metal, and Ethan tears a hole in the rear passenger door.

The engine revs as the car lurches and goes up into the grass. But there’s not enough room with the hill. And the driver has to back up to fully turn around.

Ethan sidesteps the rear bumper, the driver focused on leaving, not running him over.

But Ethan’s not done.

When the car shifts back into drive, Ethan steps forward. And with a final swing, he smashes one of the rear taillights.

The tires spin, kicking up dust, then catch, and the car disappears.

Holy. Shit.

My heart is racing.

My body feels hot.

And when Ethan turns to face me, that heat travels straight to my core.

His expression is wild.

Feral.

I take a step backward.
