Chapter 68

Ethan

The navigation screen flickers.

I narrow my eyes.

Our flight so far has been uneventful.

Easy sailing.

We ate our al pastor burritos after we got to altitude.

And before Tilda fell asleep in the copilot seat, she told me a few stories about Jack causing havoc at family gatherings when she was a kid.

We talked about what it was like living in Vegas.

We talked about a few things. But not the wedding.

Not the clearly set-up situation we found ourselves in.

I can still feel her lips against mine.

Can still hear her asking me to be agood husband.

And goddamn… this girl has my number. Because just thinking about how those words sounded coming out of her mouth has my blood flowing south.

I shift in my seat, not sure why I’m even trying to lie to myself.

My dick has been half hard since it was first suggested that I was going to marry Matilda Wright today.

The screen flickers again.

I focus back on my immediate task of flying us over the Rocky Mountains.

The weather is currently clear. But weather is tricky out here. It can change with little notice.

I look out the left window, then I turn my head to the right, looking past Tilda, out her window.

The skies are clear.

The screen flickers.

The engine stutters.

Then the engine quits.

Stops.

Goes quiet.

And the screen goes black.

That’s not good.
