Heat blared from my cheeks.

“I had them in Mackay but haven’t seen them since.”

“Really? How strange. Have you asked Noah?”

“Yep. First person I asked.”

I laughed internally. “Well, lucky I’ve ordered you another set. I’ve also ordered you a baton and a pair of aviators.”

His eyebrow rose.

“They should arrive tomorrow. In the meantime, think about what you could do with them on stage.”

Matt chuckled. “I will. Thanks.”

Standing up, I stretched and yawned. “I need a coffee. Want one?”

“Nah.”

“Anyone want a coffee?” I shouted.

Cori praised me as if I were the Lord, Dex shook his head while skolling a Red Bull, and Patsy gave me the thumbs up. The rest shook their heads.

“Want me to get them?” Lucas asked.

“No, I need to stretch my legs. You keep rehearsing.” I blew him a kiss and noticed Matt watching before he dipped his head. “Got something on your mind, Matt?”

“Nope.”

“You sure?”

“You make Dimps happy,” he offered.

I glanced back at Lucas who was doing something rather dirty with his hips.He makes me happy, too.“I should hope so,” I said.

Matt kept his head down, which told me he had more to say.

“Buuuuut …”

He looked up. “But what happens if it doesn’t work out?”

“Then it doesn’t work out.”

“He’ll be devastated.”

“As will I.”

I hoped he could see how genuine I was because I wasn’t lying … I really would be devastated if what Lucas and I had between us ceased to exist.

“And what would happen to the revue?”

“Nothing, Matthew.” I placed my hand on his shoulder. “I’m not about to let anything ruin Wild Nights.”

Matt gave me one swift nod of his head, and I did the same. “Good. Now, please excuse me. I really need caffeine.”

I exited the function room and bee-lined straight for the coffee shop where I ordered three large, skinny lattes, and as I waited for them to be made, the smell alone was curing my deprivation.

“I don’t know how you do it,” I said to the barista.
