Well, that was concerning. Noah frowned. “What is it?”
“Just watch tomorrow’s episode, the one we’re airing before the finale. I’m guessing it’ll come out around noon.”
“Are you revealing that you’re a vampire? Because that would explain why you don’t sleep—”
“Noah! I’m hanging up.”
“Okay, okay,” he said with a laugh. “I’ll watch it.”
Day Six
The Final Day ofThe Cuffing Game
The Cuffing Game
Behind-the-Scenes Creator Interview
Mia Yoon
[Internal note: to be broadcasted instead of Kyle’s interview.]
ALEX:Hey, Mia. Thanks for joining us for this exclusive behind-the-scenes interview ofThe Cuffing Game.
MIA:Hi, Alex. Thanks for doing this so early in the morning.
ALEX:It’s no problem. Luckily I was able to finish editing the other parts of the episode last night so I can just add— Oops, the viewers probably don’t care about all that, good thing I’m going to edit myself out. Anyway, how do you want to start?
MIA:The same way we always do.
ALEX:So you want me to ask—
MIA:Yep.
ALEX:Okay. Please look at the camera and state your name, year, major, and crush.
MIA:I’m Mia Yoon. I’m a freshman majoring in film production, and my crush is Noah Jang.
ALEX:[silence]
MIA:Um, Alex? Are you okay?
ALEX:Sorry. I needed a minute. So, you’re really doing this, huh?
MIA:Yup.
ALEX:Okay then. What brings you in front of the camera today?
MIA:The contestants on the show have been so vulnerable and brave. So I wanted to do the same. As everyone knows by now, I’m the creator and the host ofThe Cuffing Game. But what peopledon’tknow is that I’m the original crusher of this show.
ALEX:And what do you mean by that?
MIA:Growing up, I made up shows to deal with things I couldn’t control or didn’t understand. When our family dog died when I was a kid, I came up with my own version ofBluey. But not Australian. When the girl I liked dumpedme after homecoming and my parents were homophobic about it, I wrote a pilot episode and used it to get into Marlon’s film school.
ALEX:Good for you!
MIA:Thank you. But yeah, when I developed a crush onNoah, who I originallyhated...making a show about other people’s crushes was easier than dealing with my own. It was never supposed to actually have Noah in it. We were just trying to save the show, and things snowballed from there. I regret its origins, but I don’t regretThe Cuffing Game. I love our cuffles, and I hope our audiences do, too.
ALEX:Aw, that’s so sweet. Do you have any final words for our audience? Or for Noah, perhaps?
