She turns her head to look up at the guy, and I see her eyes narrow.
Slap him. Get the fuck away from him.
She’s probably tipsy, and definitely high on coke, and pissed off at me, so I know when she pulls her phone down and tells the guy to “back off”—based on what I can read of her lips—it’s not for me. But it still makes me feel pretty damn good, all the same.
The guy shakes his head, but he steps back and turns to find someone else to fuck with. When I pass by him on my way to Eden, I shoulder check him, hard, and keep moving.
She’s off her phone and slipping out the door when I reach her, grabbing her by the back of her jacket and spinning her around, pushing her against the brick wall outside, beside the door that slams closed. The scent of marijuana and flavored tobacco linger, but no one is out here, the storm probably a part of the reason why.
Underneath the glowing red light out here, I see her eyes are wild, her anger palpable, irises dilated as she crosses her arms, shrugging out of my grip and knocking her head against the wall, taking a step back into it.
“Who did you call?”
“Fuck you.”
I smile at her. “I wanted you to pull her off of my lap.” I taste Luna on my lips and rub the back of my hand over my mouth, trying to get her off.
Eden shakes her head, her eyes narrowing. “I’m not like that.”
I arch a brow. “You’re not?”
Her eyes are beautiful, multicolored slits. “Shut the fuck up, why did you even bring me here?” Her words are fast and angry, and it turns me on.
“Why did you let her do it?”
“I told you.” Every syllable is cold and clipped.“I’m not like that.”
“You could be anything you wanted to be.” I think of her nose dipping to the coke on my hand, even as I could feel her nervousness. You did that. You could fight for me.
My throat is sore where she jerked the choker against my skin.Fuck. You.She looked so hot, her thick, heavy boots coming toward me, the jealousy rolling off of her small frame.
“Anythingyouwanted me to be?” It’s a low question, almost a whisper. I can tell, despite her anger, she’s glad I’m here, not inside with Luna.
So am I.
My body feels hot, and I lean down, getting into her space, willing her to stay.Don’t back away.Don’t run.
She doesn’t.
I can smell her breath, like alcohol and mints, andher, soft and sweet, even though I know she isn’t either. But with me, you could be everything.
“You want me to shut the fuck up?” I ask her, my voice quiet as I bypass her question.
She clenches her jaw, swallowing hard.
“Tell me how mad you are.”
She rolls her eyes, then shakes her head, giving me nothing.
I plant one hand on the wall above her, my body so close to hers, it’s killing me. “Talk to me, Eden.”
“That was fuck boy behavior.” Her eyes are narrowed into slits, but there’s the slightest smile curving her lips.
“Yeah?”
“Yes.” The word comes out through clenched teeth.
“I wish you would’ve done something about it.” I brush my nose against hers.
