Awareness returned, suddenly and swiftly, when she inhaled, and a strong masculine scent hit her nostrils. Aditya’s arm was wrapped around her waist, anchoring her to him. The weight of his leg rested lightly over hers, her bare skin against his, his breath steady against her neck. And just like that, the night came rushing back.
Her skin flushed at the memories. Of how she’d given herself to him, again and again. Of how, in the stillness of the night, he’d reached for her. And how she’d gone willingly, melting under his touch, surrendering to every whispered demand, every slow stroke, and every hungry kiss. Last night, she hadn’t just made love to him. She’d lost herself in him.
Her heart gave a violent thud.
God. What had she done?
Carefully, she peeled his arm off her and slipped out from under the sheets. Cold air hit her bare skin. She winced at the sudden emptiness. Her dress lay where it had been discarded hours ago. She stepped into it quickly, ignoring the sting of regret building in her chest.
She searched for her underwear. Her cheeks burned when she remembered how he’d torn it off her last night. Aditya stirred behind her but, thankfully, didn’t wake.
She paused for the briefest second to glance at him. Hair mussed, sheet slung low across his hips, face relaxed in sleep… he was breathtaking. It physically hurt her to look at him.
She couldn’t stay here. She didn’t know how she’d face him when he woke up. She didn’t know how she’d answer the most important question that would arise from last night: What next?
More importantly, she didn’t want to know the answer. She couldn’t change anything in her life. She couldn’t risk the fragile, complicated life she’d rebuilt for this one night, even if it had felt like everything she’d ever wanted. She had responsibilities galore and a deadly truth she hadn’t shared with a single person in her life.
She swung her purse across her shoulder and then, clutching her heels in one hand, tiptoed to the door, her heart pounding. Slipping into the empty hallway of the hotel, she shut the door softly behind her and leaned against it.
God, what had she done?
She exhaled a shaky breath, once again allowing the memories of last night to flood her mind. Every moment. Every sound. Every touch. She’d never experienced lovemaking like this before, slow and fast, hard and tender all at once.
It had consumed her, undone her.Hehad undone her.
Aditya. He’d known exactly what to do to drive her wild. Exactly where to touch, how to move, and how to make her ache and yearn, until all that had remained in her mind was him.
She’d given herself over completely, letting him lead, take, and command, and God, she had never come that hard in her life. Not even close. And the fact that it was Aditya—the man she’d tried so hard to keep at arm’s length—who had shattered her like that, made her heart stutter. Her skin pebbled with goosebumps.
How the hell was she ever going to face him again? They had a shared group of friends. Rithwik. Aisha. Diya. And so many others.
What had she been thinking? Hell, she hadn’t been thinking at all. She’d let the heady magic of the city, the thrill of freedom, and her deep, unspoken desire for him take over her senses. And she’d leapt, heart first and eyes shut, into something she couldn’t undo.
Groaning softly, she let her head fall against the door and squeezed her eyes shut as she tried to collect herself. A sound to her left made her eyes fly open. A door clicked open ahead of her, and a woman stepped out of it, heels dangling from one hand and a purse in the other.
Sabrina’s eyes widened.
Shauna?
The other woman paused mid-step, her gaze colliding with Sabrina’s. For a beat, neither moved. Aditya had mentioned that Akash was also staying here in this hotel. Which meant…
Shauna had spent the night with Akash.
Judging by the flicker of recognition that crossed Shauna’s face—the way her forehead creased just slightly and the amused glint in her eyes—she had also put the pieces together. She knew exactly who Sabrina had spent the night with.
Sabrina clapped a hand over her mouth, trying to stifle the giggle that bubbled up. It was of no use. A shocked laugh escaped anyway.
Shauna arched a brow, her eyes narrowing as she walked barefoot toward her. Her hair was tousled, lipstick slightly smudged, and a distinct glow lit up her face. Sabrina could only imagine that she herself looked the same, or probably worse.
Shauna lifted a finger in warning. “Not. A. Word.”
Sabrina held up both hands in mock surrender, biting back another laugh. They stood there for a moment. Each of them had been caught by a dangerously wild night that had spun out of control. Each of them had crossed a line they couldn’t uncross.
“Well…” Sabrina finally whispered. “This morning just got more interesting.”
Shauna rolled her eyes but grinned. “Coffee and food. Lots of it. Then we pretend none of this happened.”
Sabrina linked her arm through Shauna’s. “Agreed.”
