“Well.” I exhale with a smile. “Glad we talked.”

I walk away without looking back, but every part of me wants to turn around and finish it. But I don’t. Not yet.

“Why did you spare her?” Landon asks as we cross the street.

“Watch her. I want to know every move she makes. I’m just waiting for her mistake.”

It’s been two days. Somehow, I’ve kept it together and haven’t gone to her room or said a word, even though I’ve thought about it more times than I can count. I’ve thought about what I’d do if I let myself.

She hasn’t made a move, either—no accidental run-ins. It’s like we’re both waiting.

But this shit needs to end.

Now I’m even more certain that no other woman can compare to Katerina. Nothing can compare to the way her eyes light up when she’s happy or excited. No wonder she took on all the jobs and photoshoots. That wasn’t on me. She made it on her own, because she’s agoddamn goddess—and I’m running back to her temple like a fool.

I knock on the door, waiting for her to reply.

“Come in,” she says softly.

Without hesitation, I open the door and enter her room.

Her feline eyes widen. “Hey,” she breathes, trying to hide her excitement. But it’s there. I can see it.

Oh my, what do we have here?Despite all the clothes in the huge closet, she chose to dress in my white shirt—and nothing else. Just that and her black lace thong.

Fuck.

She seems delicious, and I want to eat her already.

“Hey,” I say and close the door behind me.

There’s no actual reason for this visit. I just wanted to see her. That fucking simple.

She doesn’t talk, but her eyes flick between mine and then the floor.

“Forgot to do the laundry?” I ask.

“What?”

“Didn’t you have anything else to wear?”

“Oh, uhm …” She scratches her brow. “Does it bother you?”

I chuckle as I walk closer to her. “No. It suits you better than me.”

“It’s just comfortable.”

I hum, letting the silence swallow her whole. She’s a liar, but right now, I don’t care. Not when she pretends to hate me, but when I’m not looking, she’s dressed in my clothes.

After a few long seconds of fidgeting, she lets out a sharp breath and looks at me.

“So, what is it?”

I raise a brow. “I beg your pardon?”

“Why did you come here?”

“I just wanted to make sure you’re okay.”
