Everyone looks up and Mateo bolts toward me.
“Zoe!” he calls into the phone.
“Mateo.” Zoe’s crying.
“Oh my god, it’s really you.” He’s shocked, we have dreamed about this day for so long.
“I miss you. I miss you both. But I don’t have much time. Please you have to find me.” I can hear the panic in her voice.
“Give me the phone, I have to plug it in,” Enrique says.
Reluctantly, I give him the phone, and he plugs it into his computer.
“Zoe!” Sophie screams into the phone.
“Soph?”
“I’m here, sis. We are going to get you back, okay?”
I hear sobbing on the end of the phone as Zoe breaks down. “I want to come home.”
It breaks my fucking heart.
“We love you, Zoe, and we are doing everything to get you back,” I yell into the phone.
“I know. I knew you wouldn’t leave me. I’m sorry, I fought them, I tried so hard, but there were too many. They had Gracie, I had to save her.”
Fuck, my blood is boiling. What our beautiful girl has had to go through.
“We’ve locked onto the GPS,” Enrique states. “I’m calling it in.”
“We’re coming for you, baby. Do you hear that? We are coming for you,” Mateo says.
“We love you, Zoe, we love you so fucking much. You do whatever you have to do to get back to us. You need to survive, okay?” I tell her, tears streaming down my face. I need her to know that we just want her home safely.
“They have located the home,” Enrique says through the phone. “A team should be there in twenty minutes.
“See, baby? They are coming.”
“You need to save him,” she whispers into the phone.
“Who?” I ask.
“Reece, it’s his phone I have. He’s drunk in bed.”
Mateo punches the wall, shocking everyone.
“Did he hurt you?”
“Oh, no, no, he’s really sweet. He has a girlfriend who he loves. His father forced him into tonight—I think he might even be a virgin. I got him drunk and stole his phone.”
That’s my girl.
“But please don’t arrest him, he’s trying to get out of the family business. His dad … his dad is with Gracie.”
The room falls silent.
“Don’t worry, I’ve told my men that Reece is not a part of it,” Enrique tells Zoe.
