He cocks his head to one side. “When was that?”

“When you renamed your boatQuinn. That’s when I knew for sure.”

“Hey, it’s tradition. You name your boat after what your heart desires. Want to know when I knew?”

“Of course. You’ve stoked my curiosity.”

“When I asked you what you loved and you said, world peace and a burger. Great answer. I was sold.”

My eyebrows furrow. “But... that was the first moment we met.”

“Uh-huh.”

Wow. He’s never told me that before. “I never realized that.”

His smile is closed-mouthed and mischievous. “Now you know. Love at first sight and all that mumbo jumbo.”

“Mumbo jumbo? You just ruined the mood.”

“I happen to love mumbo jumbo.”

“I happen to love you. I mean, like crazy in love with you. How did we get so lucky?”

“Wanna get outta here and get lucky some more?”

I let out a peal of laughter, then notice he’s utterly serious and he’s turned on his Fletcher Christian gaze. “Yes,” I tell him, staring deeply into his eyes. “After we have our tableside s’mores this restaurant is famous for. I’m not leaving without dessert.”

Sawyer throws his head back and laughs. “That says it all right there. We’re an old married couple if ever there was one.”

“I like being an old married couple.”

“With kids to boot.”

“All we need is a white picket fence and we’re living the American dream.”

He makes a show of thinking about it. “A white picket fence, huh? You’re right, that’s all we’re missing. That could be arranged, though.”

My eyebrows furrow with worry. “I have everything. Absolutely everything. How can I...”

“Don’t say it,” he interrupts. “Don’t even think it. The decision has been made. You’re going. It was your choice, and you need a break. Done deal. Tonight is about us, not regrets.”

I love this man. So, so much. “On second thought, let’s skip dessert.”

“Nope, dessert first. You get the best of both worlds tonight, Quinn.”

No, I get the best of both worlds every single day of my life.

Chapter Six

Quinn

“ISN’T IT BEAUTIFUL?” my new friend, Abi, says to me as we stare out the airplane window together, marveling at the sights beneath us as we slowly descend.

We’re both a little awestruck. “I had no idea it would be quite this beautiful.” One week ago, I was debating over whether or not I should go on this trip. Now, here I am. Everything happened so fast.

“I read it’s becoming the new Costa Rica—as far as tourism goes anyway.” Abi blushes. “I guess you can’t believe everything you read.”

“I believe it. I did a lot of reading too,” I confess. “I read Nicaragua is a nature lover’s dream. It’s known as the land of volcanoes and lakes.”
