Epilogue

Grace

Fifteen Months Later...

I down the rest of my coffee and put the mug down on the counter.

Laura looks at me like I’ve just taken a huge dump on her favorite cuddly toy.

“What?” I say. “It’s decaf!”

She rolls her eyes and goes back to preparing the food plates.

Leo walks in looking totally dashing.

It’s been a whole year, but I still can’t believe this man is my husband. He’s everything I ever dreamed of in a man. Big, strong, caring… and a total demon in the sheets.

“I knew I’d find you in here!”

I cock an eyebrow and put my hand on my hip. “And why’s that?” I ask. “I hope you’re not accusing me of being a busybody!”

“Me?’ he asks in mock surprise. “Accusingyouof being a busybody? Would I ever do such a horrid, despicable thing?”

He wraps his arms around me and gently rubs my huge, round tummy.

“Ugh!” Laura says, “I’m trying to work here! Can’t you two get a room or something!”

Leo kisses my cheek and whispers in my ear. “She has a point, you know.”

I squeeze his ass and bite my lip. “Are you thinking what I’m thinking?”

“That we already have a room? That it’s full up with all our family and friends? That they’re all here to celebrate your birthday, and you’ve spent most the night in the kitchen micromanaging the caterer… who just happens to be your best firmed, and a very capable chef?”

“Oh,” I groan, “I love it when you talk dirty to me.”

“I know,” he says, patting my tummy again. “That’s how we ended up with this little bundle of joy.”

“He’s not a bundle of joy yet,” I remind him. “Right now he’s more a little monster who seems to take great joy in stamping on my bladder whenever he gets the chance. I’ve only just finished my coffee, and already I need to pee.” I pout my lips at him. “And my feet hurt.”

“Is that your way of saying you want me to give you a foot rub?”

“Maybe…” I look at him out the corner of my eye and stroke his arm. “Maybe I want you to give me more than a foot rub.”

“Oh,” he says. “And where else would you like me to rub.”

“Barf!” Laura says, pretending to stick her fingers down her throat and be sick. “Please… it’s bad enough that she’s been in here all night looking over my shoulder. But do I really have to listen to you two talk dirty? It’s putting me off my dinner. If you don’t get out of here in the next ten seconds, I’m going home. Even though you’re my bestie, and I love you, and I’m really happy for you and everything. But, there’s only so much a single girl can handle, and you’ve just crossed that line. Big time.”

“Looks who's grumpy,” I tease.

“Ten!”

“Come on, babe,” Leo says. “We’re about to start with the Karaoke, and you know I do a great Elvis.”

“Nine!”

“Okay, okay,” I say to Laura. Then, to Lex, “I hate to tell you this…”

“Eight!”
