The elevator dings and the doors slide open.

Orion’s arm is outstretched, keeping the door open so that I may enter first. “Oh, that’s news to me.”

“What’s news to you?” I ask. I’m way too close to him as I walk inside the elevator.

“Are you admitting that you want me to take you to the penthouse floor with me? Because I will. Anything for you, Lila.”

He’s flirting, which means he’s being an unserious asshole. My sigh is full of resolve. “I guess it’s true what they say.”

“What do they say?”

“A leopard never changes his spots and a flirt will forever live and die on his charm.”

His shoulders shake when he chuckles. Even the way he does that is sexy. Why am I seeing sexy, sexy, sexy, these days whenever I regard Orion? I don’t like it.

“No one says that, Lila.”

I sigh very hard as my hand flies up and I show him my palm. “Okay, you’re overdoing the Lila.”

Oh, that cunning smile is coupled with a lip lick. I want to kiss him. No—I want him to kiss me.

Ding. The door opens and Orion waits for me to exit first. The way his gaze lays over my face makes me feel flustered as I enter the hallway.

“You look nice today, Lila,” he remarks.

I can feel his eyes on my backside before I turn to face him. “So do you.” That slipped out.

But he does look really good today. His black pants have a little sheen to them that almost make them appear smoke gray. He has on a short-sleeved shirt that is the same color as his pants and the material lays over his chest and abdominal muscles like a soft kiss.

“Thank you—Lila,” he says, lapping me up with a playful gaze.

I roll my eyes. “Whatever, Jack.”

I barely registered that we were walking until we make it to the door at the end of the lonely hallway. No one ever comes down here, that’s for sure. I’m surprised we haven’t had a run-in with a rat. After all, this is New York City.

“Who’s Jack?” Orion asks.

“If you can call me Lila, then I can call you Jack.”

Orion tilts his head curiously. “Calling you Lila bothers you that much?”

Honestly? Not anymore.“Yes.”

“Why?”

I shrug. “I don’t know.”

I start to feel a tiny bit uncomfortable as Orion stares at my face. It’s as if he can tell that I’m not being 100 percent truthful. I’m actually being immature and I hate it.

He grunts thoughtfully as he puts his finger on a keypad and then opens the door. “After you.”

I lift a foot to step inside but then put it back down. “It doesn’t bother me,” I admit. “Lila’s fine.”

It feels like the part of the movie when the hero and heroine kiss, but instead he’s grinning at me and I’m flapping my eyelashes at him. Once again, I feel like telling him where I woke up on Saturday morning. I can’t believe I’ve been keeping that to myself. I think he deserves to know.

My Orion problems tumble down the drain as soon as I’m inside the room and see six large screens fixed to the wall, about sixty inches each. Three of them are filled with long lines of computer code. Two men sit at desks programming multiple computers.

“Sally, meet Lila,” Orion says.
