Running a hand over his face, he went into his bedroom and stripped his shorts off, then lay on the bed. Staring up at the ceiling, Justin heard an engine come to life, then the sounds of a car driving away. Exhaling heavily, he sat up and placed his feet on the floor and let his head sag until he heard a knock on the door.
Frowning, he stood and picked up his discarded shorts and a T-shirt and pulled it on as he walked out of the bedroom and toward the front door. “This had better not be Simon with some poor excuse as to why he’s come back.” Opening it, he looked up and up then into gorgeous deep blue eyes. “Hi,” he whispered in awe at the gorgeous man standing in front of him.
The man from the cabin next to him smiled, and Justin had to stop his knees from shaking. “Hi,” he said as he smiled. “I heard raised voices and wanted to make sure you were okay.”
“Do you want to come in?” He glanced down at his bare legs, then smiled at the tall, hot, and gorgeous man. With a large hat on his head. Understandable given the weather, but it did look a little strange. Maybe bulky? Justin stepped to one side and let the man in, his eyes dropping to his ass when he walked past. Licking his lips at what he thought was a spectacular ass, Justin closed the door and went to his bedroom to quickly pull on some jeans. “Act cool, Justin. You can handle the hottie from next door.”
Walking out of the bedroom, he stopped when he saw the man bent over, poking at the fire. “Damn,” he murmured. The man’s ass looked fantastic, and Justin wanted to see him with no clothes on. “Can I get you a drink?”Say yes, then I can get to spend more time with you!
The man straightened and smiled, and Justin wanted to sigh, but managed to keep quiet. “Please. By the way, I’m Eteriion.”
“Justin, and that’s an interesting name.”
“I’m not from around here.” Eteriion walked over to him and Justin stared at him, unable to tear his eyes away. “Where are you from?”
“Not here,” Justin murmured, then blinked and smiled. “Coffee or some champagne? I have some outside.”
“Coffee would be nice, thanks. How long are you here for?”
Justin didn’t answer until Eteriion’s smile widened, then he turned away and ignored the heat in his cheeks. “Long enough, hopefully,” he whispered, because he really wanted to know what Eteriion hid beneath his jeans.
Chapter Four
“Long enough, hopefully,” Justin whispered, but Eteriion heard. Eyes moving over Justin’s body, he had the exact same thought. Having seen the human in just his shorts, he wanted to strip them off—with his teeth—then lick him all over, tasting every inch of his delectable body.
“Are you okay?” He wanted to know who the other man was and if Justin was with him. “I heard raised voices…”
“The ex who wants to try again, but it’s not going to happen.”
“How come, if you don’t mind me asking?”
“He liked me, but he also liked other men.”
So, the other man couldn’t remain faithful, which would explain the raised voices that had led Eteriion out of his cabin and over to Justin’s. He watched Justin make their drinks, his eyes roaming over the human’s body. Tall and broad, with short blond hair swept to one side and intense hazel eyes that Eteriion wanted to stare into as they did other things together. Things that required them to be naked, which wouldn’t happen because Eteriion wasn’t human, and he had tentacles.
Sighing softly, he smiled when Justin asked if he wanted milk and sugar. “Just milk, please.” He would have to settle for watching Justin in the hot tub. Not stalkerish at all, but he knew what would happen if Justin saw his tentacles.
“Here you are.” Justin handed him his coffee and walked over to the sofa in front of the fire. Eteriion followed and sat on the one opposite Justin and watched the human sip his coffee as he watched the fire. “Are you here on vacation?”
“No, I live in the cabin next door. I’ve been here about five years now. Nice place and great people.”
“I’ve been thinking about going to the town to see what they have there.”
“You should try Elise’s place. She cooks the best breakfasts. I try to go a couple of times a week.” Or he had, before loneliness had set in. He watched the fire and contemplated what he was going to do if he couldn’t find a way home. The thought of living the rest of his life alone depressed him, but at least he wasn’t stuck in some lab having tests performed on him. That would be infinitely worse, so he had to make the best of what he had and watch the man sitting opposite. And find some form of contentment with that.
Justin glanced at him, then away, a faint blush on his cheeks, and Eteriion inhaled, taking in the sweet scent of the other man’s arousal. And wanted to do something about it but remained where he was. “How long are you here for?”
“Two weeks. I needed a break after a not-so-great few months.”
“Would that be with the man who left?” Eteriion saw the wince on Justin’s face. “You don’t have to say anything.”
“No, it’s not that. I never expected him to come here. We broke up months ago, and he’d moved on, or so I thought.” Justin glanced down. “He’d moved on before we even broke up.”
“I’m sorry to hear that. It can’t be easy to believe one thing, when the opposite is occurring. I take it you don’t want him back?” Eteriion watched Justin’s face harden. He shook his head once, then sipped his drink. “I see. Well, if you need a guide while you’re here, I can help.”
“I’m sure you have better things to do than show me around. I’m only here for two weeks.”
“You have a hot tub that works.”
