She shook her head, unable to say a word. A man had never looked at her the way he was, nor had one ever said those kinds of things to her.
“Yeah, I am.” He grinned, and then his gaze skimmed down her. “Or you could entice me to be a breast man because yours are as perfect as they come.” His grin grew wider. “All those are good reasons, but I think it’s the way I can make you blush. That’s just damn sexy, Cara. Where else do you blush?”
“Stop it,” she said, slapping her hands over her face, hiding the blush she knew was on her cheeks.
“Don’t think I can.”
She didn’t hear him move, but there he was with his nose buried against her neck. “I take all of that back. It’s your scent. That erotic ylang ylang stuff you wear. Did you know my dad fell in love with my mom because of her scent? She smelled like food.”
“No, I didn’t know that.” A giggle escaped. He was saying both crazy, sexy things and silly things. She didn’t know whether to laugh or moan.
“Cara,” he said, his voice turning serious.
“Hmm?” She spread her fingers so she could see him.
“I need you in my life.” He dipped his fingers in the water, testing the temperature. “It’s getting a little cool. Are you ready to get out?”
She gaped at him. “You say something like that and then want to know if I’m ready to get out? You’re making my head spin.”
“Keeping you on your toes might be my new goal in life.” He grabbed a clean towel from the linen closet and held it up.
“Not sure I’ll survive that.” She stepped out of the tub and into the towel. He dried her off with a gentleness that almost brought tears to her eyes.
“You have any gold stars on you?” he said as he wrapped the towel around her.
“Pardon?”
“I think I deserve one for keeping my hands to myself.” He grinned, his green eyes dancing with amusement behind the black-frame glasses. “Mostly.”
“Maybe I don’t want you to be a good boy.” She glanced over her shoulder as she walked out of the bathroom, swallowing a smile at the expression on his face. She’d surprised him.
He followed her into the bedroom. “What kind of boy would you like me to be?”
Her overnight bag was on the bed, and she rummaged in it for something to put on. “What are my options?”
“Pretty sure I can be whatever you want, Cara.” He stopped behind her, close enough for her to feel his body heat.
“I like surprises.” When he trailed his hands down her arms, a shiver traveled through her.
“Yeah?”
“Hmm.” He lowered his mouth to the side of her neck and nibbled on her skin. Her body hummed with need for him. “Just so you know, I think I need you in my life, too.” He made a funny noise. “Did you just growl?”
He chuckled. “I think I did. That’s the effect sexy librarians have on me. Who knew?”
“Librarians? As in plural?” She glanced back at him, raising her eyebrows.
He smiled, his eyes crinkling at the corners. “Correction. A particular sexy librarian.” He tugged on the edge of the towel. “Want me to show you how much I want you?”
She turned in his arms to face him. “I really, really do.”
“Cara,” he murmured as his mouth found hers.
From the beginning, that soft, smoky way he had of saying her name had made her feel gooey inside. He put his hands on her waist, fisted the towel, and pulled it off. It wasn’t fair that she was naked and he wasn’t. She grasped the hem of his T-shirt and pushed it up his chest. He broke their kiss long enough to yank it over his head, carelessly tossing it aside. Then his mouth was back on her, and he peppered kisses down to her neck.
It was only the second time she’d seen him without a shirt, and oh Lord, what a beautiful sight he was. She arched her neck, giving him access to the tender parts of her. His lips skimmed over her skin, scattering goose bumps in his path. When he reached her earlobe, he sucked it into his mouth, sending bolts of pure pleasure spiraling through her.
She needed her hands on him and decided the best place to start was his shoulders. From there she could work her way down. He leaned back and stared down at her when she touched him, his beautiful green eyes shimmering with desire.
